I remember Claude Lemieux laying in the ice faking an injury. The trainer was about to jump in the ice to help him when Pat Burns grabbed the trainer's sweater and told him, "Let the SOB lie there."

Was never a Prust or Shaw fan. Tough question, we’ve watched 2 decades of players miscast or playing top lines when they were average nhl’ers. As much as Desharnais or Danault played too much for my enjoyment, there was no player forcing coaches for their spots.

I didnt hate Marco Scandella or Michael Chaput, but they were so, so bad

I despite Mike Hoffman
I must admit it was rather close between Hoffman, Dadonov and Rivet, with Rivet winning by virtue of actually costing us something, while we would always have sucked regardless without Hoffman. But, come to think of it, I hate Hoffman more than Dadonov.

I have no players I dislike or despise. With that said there are many coaches that I loathe for they way they played their "pets". Example is the way Therrien played DD and never gave the same opportunities to Lars Eller.

There are other examples over the years.

I remember Jacques Martin's fascination with Tom Pyatt. Useless plug.

Lazy Benoit Pouliot, how the f*** was this guy drafted 4th overall?

Mike Reilly
aka Mr. Misses Net By A Mile.

Mike Blunden, 6'3 215 pounds of nothing.

Believe it or not, Habs almost drafted him instead of Price.

THOMPSON (Minnesota Assistant Gm) We got the sense that Montreal was thrown for a loop when we chose Pouliot because of some knowledge we had about what the Canadiens were planning that day. Doug Risebrough and Bob Gainey are friends [and former teammates], they go on trips together.

GAINEY We were targeting Pouliot; that’s the player we hoped would be there at our pick. We understood it might not happen, but had he not been selected by Minnesota, we would have selected him.

TIMMINS I saw [Pouliot] a lot that year. Good length and range, lots of growth potential; fluid, smooth skater with good hands and an accurate, quick release. He looked like the real deal.

I’d say Gomez or Drouin, but captain Pacioretty is definitely up there. His play changed completely after getting the captaincy.

I haven't read the thread but I'll assume Drouin is a popular selection and I'll put my name beside that.

I would also say Weber. I never liked the trade, and while unfair, I think I held that against him somewhat.

He wasn't the Weber of 5-7 years prior, but he was still pretty good and effort was never an issue. It also didn't help that our team went right into the toilet pretty much the minute he arrived, which is also not his fault.

I have co-winners though. This is a 3-way tie between Sergei Samsonov, Benoit Pouliot, and Rene Bourque.

Bourque's is similar to Weber in that it's unfair because I'm holding the sins of management against him, but unlike Weber, Bourque was a steaming pile of shit.

Samsonov was probably the most disappointing big name acquisition we've had, and not only was he bad, but he was a straight up lazy piece of shit.

As for Pouliot, what else is there to say. The trade was bad, and he was worse.

So there you have it, Samsonov/Pouliot/Bourque. The dogshit of dogshit.

He was very bad in his last year here and apparently cried when he didnt get the captaincy.
That sounded like it was just made up BS by forum members. He surely would have spited us on the way out by playing for a rival if that was the case.
