Yes, that's exactly what I was arguing... :shakehead

Yes, sample sizes are pretty small, so it's all to be taken with a grain of salt at this point. But I think most would agree that Ehlers-Scheifele-Vilardi is a well-constructed line where each player brings different strengths to the table and the whole just might be greater than the sum of its parts. That PDO is wild right now though. I wouldn't expect that line to average 6 points a night the rest of the way...

Here's ESV vs ESC vs CSV vs CSI to compare your apples:

Where are you getting the metrics for that CSV line? They don't look right esp the xGF% and GA. According to Evolving Wild they had similar numbers to ESV line.

I know for a fact that they as a line never got scored on so that GA/60 can't be right.

I think the key is that Scheifele and Vilardi are money together. The other winger doesn’t matter too much. Heck, put Perfetti with them and get a center to play between Connor and Ehlers.

I believe Detroit's 2nd goal was against that line the other night. And Colorado's second goal on Saturday was against that line as well. Not sure where the 3rd goal against those 3 came from...maybe against Calgary in the first game? They had a handful of minutes together before Vilardi got injured against the Kings in Game 4 but they weren't a line at that point.

What line are you talking about? I thought CSV = Connor Scheif Vilardi?

I'd love to see someone (who isn't me) list the historical numbers since 2018 for Ehlers - Scheif and Connor - Scheif.

I have a feeling the Ehlers Scheif combo is much better at tilting the ice.

Yep going back to last 5 years this is the first year kc has been somewhat better in his own end. Yet it seems like achier prefers to play with kc.

Connor also had one of his best (maybe his best?) years ever playing with Dubois a couple of years ago...

Over the years we have seen those two together a few times but it never lasted - and there has been a ton of discussion over that point that usually leads to a fandom split on who should be playing those top line minutes.

Sometimes when we evaluate players and their impact, we also need to include the impact in terms of consistency and their ability (or luck) in staying healthy.
Outside of scoring a lot of goals, I'd suspect KC has hung onto his role on the top line due to both of those points that need to be part of the conversation -

We also have to discuss who Schief has preferred playing with. It seems like Schief and wheeler have always had a clear preference for playing with KC. It may not bring about the best results. They may have had better results with Ehlers on the top line, but, you got to take preference of your top Centre into account. It shouldn't be a popularity contest, but, sometimes it is.

Ahh looking at "Even Strength" metrics is the issue. They are misleading because it is not really "even strength". "Even Strength" numbers on Natural statrick also include EN 6 on 5 situations in this case which is skewing the numbers.

Not sure if you saw the interview with Vilardi on Winnipeg Sports Talk yesterday, but Vilardi had some interesting comments about his 2 line mates. Talked about Scheifele's hockey smarts and how well he sees the ice and his puck protection. He also talked about Ehlers smarts, and his deception with speed. Seems like he really likes his fit with those 2 players.

Don't have 5 years but last 3 years:

Fly and Mark 63 GF% and 52 XGF%
Mark and KC 49 GF% ad 48 XGF%

Granted he has double the 5 on 5 minutes with KC as he does with Fly.

I know it's a flawed stat... but the Jets have 5 of the top ten best plus minus in the league... I don't think anyone predicted scheif would be one of those

Was that the Thursday addition I assume?

People are suggesting that iafallo slides down to the 4th line when we get connor back but I'd much rather see him replace apples on the third. I think he's done a yeomans job on the 3rd but iafallo fits better wth nino and Lowry.

Although is it worth messing with chemistry of the 3rd line?

He isn't a right shot and I think he looks a bit lost playing the right side on the 2nd line.
