I'd prefer if the Leafs could inject some toughness using a player that actually has some of it and isn't a complete liability in all other facets, personally.
Oh for sure, I agree. I think everyone would prefer that. He’s not the saviour or anything but we dont really have any other options right now. At least he has heart. He’s not worried about his next paycheck, he just wants to play hockey for us. I respect that.

Lost an edge did he? May want to tell Keefe who is dressing Simmonds tomorrow night all due to a rut in the ice. You can't make this stuff up.

You can clearly see his skate hit a hole in the ice and buckle on its own, did you watch the game? The call on the play was interference lol.

I really don't understand why you even call yourself a Leafs fan. All negative, all the time.
How is stating a fact negative ?

and a few posts under the one you replied to I complemented Mo on his skills in front of a mic

I’m not surprised you missed that however since it seems some people only see what they would consider to be a negative post even if it’s factual .

Yup went back and watched it. You are somewhat right. Gio lost his footing and Glendenning got an interference penalty. Did he nudge him ?? If the penalty was justified, somebody should have given him a least a glove wash. I mean the Stars were giving it to Matty all night. J. Robertson took a penalty for a late hit on Marner. Marchment was running around hitting Marner and Robertson.

Simmonds is not dressing because of the Giordano play lol.

No he is not but it might be because the team is a soft as a baby's behind and they barely have a pulse when it comes to pushing back. Our captain leading that by example.

So at the end of the day, NAK is benched for an old, washed up, pugilist who was waived and claimed by nobody. SC here we come.

We have cap space with players on LTIR. Makes a lot of sense to rotate the role players. Keep everyone fresh. Keep everyone hungry.

If Engvall doesn't pick it up I'd get Holmberg up for a few games too. Get everyone a taste while you can and see what works.

I'd like to see what McCann can do.

if they want to protect 50% of the cap investment I'd have both Clifford and Simmonds dressing every alternate game (sometimes both together).
With the injuries (and related cap space), this is exactly what they should do. Simmonds, Clifford, NAK and ZAR should all be continuing to battle for ice time. Like an extended pre-season.

How glad it made a man here reading comments here about simmonds and hus strengths and honor and y'all liking the checking game and fight presence back :) also I am the one emphesazing another fact he brings and WE NEED: He brings the talk and energy. He is not the best player yeah, and not better on the ice than some of our other fools, but He talks all game long. That makes a team. Whole. If that is missing, then Mario or Link is missing. We need talk and looks also. Simmy brings that. Fights. Others dont have that.

I only saw it in real time. I thought the other player's leg hit the back of Geo's knee, causing it to buckle.

Not a fan of ZAR or NAK. I'd run this next game.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Malgin - Kerfoot - Jarnkrok
Engvall - Kampf - Simmonds

Let's Simmonds get a shot, and adds more skill in the lineup.

I'll do JT's interview for him

um ahh -pause- we need to build on last nights win
um ahh -pause- we need to come out and play hard right from the whistle
um ahh -pause- we have to take it one day at a time
um ahh -pause- we have a lot of faith in each other to um ahh get on a roll
um ahh -pause- insert cliche

Minor edit: Insert "obviously," before each of his responses. (After the -pause- and just before the "we" if I wasn't clear)

I got a feeling this one is getting chippy. Great call bringing in Simmer, hope others step up too. It'll be interesting to see if he has an effect on the rest of the lineup.

Leafs need to be overall much tougher or have at least two big guys to keep things honest. Benn and Simmonds would be great since Clifford was shot to the moon. Not a huge fan of a defender being the muscle and would love Clifford to get one more chance but I have come to terms that likely won’t happen. I just think Simmonds and Clifford are much more effective than ZAR and NAK. Ideally they’d trade for another rugged forward and cuts losses early with the ZAR experiment

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Robertson-Kerfoot-Nylander
Malgin-Tavares-Jarnkrok
Engvall-Kampf-Simmonds
Take out Malgin and insert Steeves. Shoot engval to the moon and place either Douglas or Clifford into the fourth line too.
No, this isn't the most talented team that can be iced but it becomes a harder team to play against and who doesn't think that Nylander, MM, AM and JT wouldn't want the extra shifts and double time ... lol.
Run that for a few weeks to let it be known around the league that if you touch AM, MM, and JT you will suffer greatly ... not only is the offender going to pay but your star player is going to pay and pay for their actions.
After Christmas start positioning players like Malgin, ZAR, and NAK into the lineup for the speed and the preparation of the playoffs.
Watch how much bigger the leafs play with these guys dressed ... big big difference.

BTW watching this Douglas kid ... is he ever similar to the boogeyman. Same size, shape, and accuracy lol. But better speed and abilities.

Having watched Winnipeg play this year, I feel like this will be an L for the leafs. They played VERY heavy against Colorado the other night. I don’t think the leafs are going to respond in like.
