We always hear about how great of a leader Tkachuk is while he finishes his 5th season without a sniff of playoffs. Interesting how that works.

Sakic also missed 3 or 4 playoff seasons with the Nordiques. That's not reflective on him

Brady has done everything for them. Scoring fighting brining energy. You can't ask for more than that

Saw only the third period:

*Sammy standing tall between the pipes, and boxing out behind the net. Congrats on fatherhood and the shutout.
*One of Tim Liljegren's better periods the last little while. No hand grenade passes, some good exit work, solid D.
*Sorry Mitch, the streak is over.
*While I didn't see much from the big boys, and to be fair (to be fair) they were all hanging back a bit in the third, Kerfoot is playing better even with one errant pass early in the third, and Zahorna...who knew?
*Schenn with a clinic boxing out Brady T mid period. I'm not sure he starts G 1, but it's nice to know he's available should he be called upon. I'd take him over Sandin going into the playoffs, and that's not a knock against Rasmus, I like(d) him and wish him well with the Caps, but we're in win now mode and Schenn offers a calmer, bigger, more physical presence, without the high risk tendencies.
*While Rielly has taken a good deal of criticism here these past few weeks, he's now skating more freely than before and his effectiveness is trending in the right direction. I'd still take TJB over MR on a two on one, but a more confident Rielly is going to help us more than hurt us, and he usually picks it up in the playoffs.

*While Ottawa lost, and were without some of their top players on the back end, I can see this team improving dramatically next year, if they get some goaltending. They have talent. Which makes tonight doubly enjoyable because while we may have been hemmed in our zone for much of the 3rd, it was mostly perimeter play, with the Leafs playing a sound defensive pattern to hold the Sens away from the high danger zones.
*The return of ROR cannot occur soon enough for me. This 11/7 stuff...meh, not a fan.

Please don't ever compare Brady to Sakic again. In any scenario ever.

Has Brady ever been a PPg player? Pretty sure Sakic was 90+ during his early years. Brady is overrated cause of his last name.

Sammy with a solid win.
Some key performances on D tonight. Nobody looked bad, Schenn showing playoff style play in his slot, Rielly stepping up smartly, McCabe-Brodie outstanding, Gio normal steady self.

Good on Zahorna, used sized and played well in that bottom 6 role, goal was a bonus. Might be a good option if injuries occur.

Good to see Nylander and Bunting produce.

Hopefully they’ll play 12/6 tomorrow, forwards need a little break on the back to back.

Legit does anything happen if the Leafs pass the Debbies - who they still toy with taking 5 of 6 points - or will they still play Tampa because Bettman’s big brain playoff format?
Yes, if they pass the Devils they are 3rd in the Conference and would play the 6th place Lightning. :naughty:

Marner again with almost 22 mins TOI and Matthews 23 mins TOI in a game where Leafs won 3-0

Sheldon Keefe is really getting on my nerves

Craig Simpson did a full deepthroat of the sens in a 3-0 loss and it still isn't enough for the sens fans.

Also, Brodie and McCabe have amazing chemistry. They'll get their due as one of the best pairs in the NHL next season.

Samsonov looks pretty damn good. Leafs at 100 points now after @Mess so boldly predicted that they were an 83 point team with this goaltending tandem.

Sad we won't hear from him tonight as he only posts in PGT threads when the team doesn't win. Shucks.
I never predicted any such thing.

I replaced the record of the Leafs goalies out with the Leafs goalies IN based on Last years stats wins and losses and Leafs would have been an 83 point team last year based on that.

Had nothing to do with this season.

He's not wrong about it being a matter of time if you're going by decades.

In all honesty, I do think they look like they're ready to turn the corner next year. They play hard every night and if they keep doing that, they should at least be making the playoffs soon. Now Montreal....
