Post-Game Talk: Leafs win! Stolie with the shuttie

We're going to do it. We're going to win the division and we are going to take advantage of that for the first time in this era. Cup round confirmed with hockeyvirus guarantee

Leafs COMPLETELY shut it down.

I don't think Stolarz had to make a single truly BIG save.

I legitimately don't remember one.

Don't like Robertson at all but credit where It's due he was fantastic tonight.

Thought Willy was very quiet for the first 2 periods and then BANG he blew it WIDE open.

Fantastic effort from start to finish

Watching the Leafs at my buddies house while his Scottish dad screamed "tackle him" all game was a treat. Whole family loved the Leafs.
I love Scotland. Fantastic people; not fantastic weather. Too bad you need an interpreter everywhere you go, particularly in the west of the country*.

*the UK is a country of countries and no one can tell me otherwise

Stolarz has given up 2 or less in 17 out of 29 starts
3 or less in 25 out of 29 starts
Not counting the one start against Anaheim where he left due to that pebble in the knee.

So when some genius in the GDT who said they won't surprised if the Leafs give up a bunch of goals tonight is not really paying attention lol.

Asking my Hab fan coworker on Monday what it felt like cheering for the Leafs
He probably didn’t.

Rogers must be ecstatic knowing they’ll finally get southern Ontario watching round two of playoffs when their beloved team out east plays.

Trev has a major weakness as a GM, in that he tends to hyperfocus on specific players he wants, and usually ends up overpaying for them. For whatever reason, he really, really wanted Scott, but Scott doesn't fit in our lineup really well...

Berube already sat him down and told him to just play his game, but he's still trying to do too much to prove he's an asset.

I don’t even think they wanted Laughton, they just wanted a center. They made up their minds they were going to spend the assets, they tried for both Schenn and O’Reilly, both said no.

We don’t consider them Southerners. There’s a name for them that combines part of raccoon and a the other name for donkey.
They aren't Southern tbh. They are unique. Only things they share in common with the South off the top of my head are a love of college football and RIDICULOUS SUMMER* SWAMPASS.

* by summer i mean the majority of the year

Decent game. They kept their heads and didn't give up on their defensive and patient gameplan. Let the skill make the different, but don't give anything away for free.

Beat a team they should beat, and beat them the way they should beat them. Enjoyable.

Stolarz with probably the easiest shutout you are going to get in the NHL. Did what he had to do, and it seems pretty clear he is the Game 1 starter.

After watching these recent games, for me, when Kampf is healthy, he comes in, Robertson stays in and either Holmberg or Jarnkrok sit.

For once the team didn't look like they were about to sink with McCabe, also encouraging.

Tuesday/Wednesday could put a pin in the division if they can win them both, which would be dandy!

Professional win. Slow start but took over. Great game by Robbo. Willy 2 more. And matty 9 straight 30 goal seasons wow.

Cbj is an absolute scrub team, hate em since the Foligno/torts days. Glad to see them get their teeth kicked in. I haven't watched them much this year but I'll say it again, wholly unimpressed with werenski in his own zone.

They love their Tigahs. Summers are great down here 95 and humid is perfect.

I don't think they even tried to get anyone else. From the beginning, the target was Scott Laughton. I don't entirely know why. What I DO know, is that he's not playing the high-energy game he was known for in Philly, but is rather trying to show he can provide offense, even though I'm pretty sure any offense out of him was a bonus.

Impressed they put the dagger into them in the third … usually haven’t seen that from this group

big win.. the division would be nice. But I care more about how they are playing. These last two are encouraging
