I think people should tone down the "missing half our defense" stuff. Two of the guys that are out are not exactly Norris candidates, and 99% of this place couldn't wait to be rid of Klingberg. The defense isn't going to look all that much different when Tim and Gio are back.

100% he is a member of the team. A 2 points are 2 points, however....

Maybe you're missing the point, if we played like that last night vs lets say Boston, Colorado, Las Vegas, do we still get the win? Woll was great but c'mon it's the Ottaway Sens. That win had as much to do with Woll playing elite as it did with Ottawa being a crappy team. Would you feel more comfortable with 1) planning for Woll to have a night like last night every game or 2) Having 19 guys play as a cohesive unit, with purpose, manage the puck, reduce the quality of shots against, clog up the middle and push the shooters to the outside and have solid goaltending?

It was an ugly 2 points, which has been the theme all season, ugly games. We are relying way too much on hoping the other team will break down and give us a chance.
If the wins were pretty with amazing metrics, it would be dismissed because nobody cares about the regular season anymore.

All I know is we're making the playoffs even while looking like crap.

I wouldn't want to face a team like that when it counts. Even the slightest improvement means game over.

We are factually missing half our D. Fair enough on Klingberg, but Gio and Liljegren are clearly NHL defenders and both well ahead of at least 3 of the guys in our current lineup, so I really don’t see it as overstated.

As far as Klingberg goes, if he’d been healthy, he might have been able to win over fans. He is far from perfect, but if he’d looked like he did in Minnesota he’d have had a real chance to be a valuable addition as our backend offensive is anemic

Can I ask, if they continue to win games, however they win them, and at the end of the season it is a 110 point team, will that make them serious?
I'm not interested in thinking about hypothetical situations that are highly unlikely to actually happen, but feel free to ask me if and when we get there.

Not sure how unlikely it is. They are currently on pace for 107 points despite their issues.

I can't grasp how this place can watch these games and not clearly see how valuable Klingberg would have been if he remained healthy.

Check their record since I sent they would go on a run.

Yup. His offense is badly needed from the defense.

Benoit has been very reliable even if he's not the best skater or puckmover.
He has that Ron Hainsey playstyle where they aren't the fastest but extremely smart, takes good angles, plays very low risk hockey, long reach, blocks shots and plays the body when needed.

Had never actually watched him play before this season but this was a nice signing.

That stat is probably not advanced enough for people. Never mind looking at their schedule this month. 3 against Columbus, the Islanders, the Penguins, Buffalo, Ottawa again. Literally some of the worst teams in the league. The Leafs are going to keep piling up lots of points until they are right up against Boston, but I guess people will still complain that they don't like ]how they earn them.

I might be a minority but I think the Sens are actually a talented team. Underachivers for sure. But i think they are a good team , play Leafs hard and not surprised the Leafs don't dominate, if not got a bit lucky. Quite a few Marlies around these days.
They ran into a Woll last night.

A lot of people said he was bad, because he is a big. He is exactly what you want in a playoff series as a 6th dman. Great signing from Tre. Him and Lagesson both.

Yes people will continue to discuss the games.
Analysis <> complaining

I don’t think some degree of complaints about how we’re doing it are unwarranted. Ive done it myself as well. I do think they get out of hand though.

Timmins is the most useless 2-way d we've had in years. I'd rather have Barrie back than use Timmins

He fell on his own 2 or 3 times? He refused to shoot or make a play at the blueline when he could? McCabe had to carry his butt the whole night.

I like Timmins because he does have tools but he needs to shape up. This is his time to show he's a regular.

Assuming they add a couple of top 4 D and they don’t off load any, they'll have a decision to make on who plays between Gio, Lily, Benoit, Lagesson, and McCabe….
