apart from the opening sequence of the game that resulted in the 2-on-1 with matthews passing to marner, thornton was meh and is slow.. don't think he can keep up with the young legs even with a shortened season

spezza was more noticeable.. also not sure why jumbo is in the high bumper spot on the pp; that's not his game, he is a passer and needs to be along the boards

put him on the 3rd line pls and bring hyman back up

Matthews is an absolute monster. Thought him and Willy were the most consistent players tonight. Loved seeing him throw the body around a bit and get physical too.

If Matthew's keeps playing like this the league better get ready. That is one hell of a player.

Yup. Theyre going to be the most annoying opponent we play all year. Anderson going to score like 20 goals just against us. Probably like 3 vs the rest of the division.

Can't say I really disagree. I can see why Vessey didn't fit in in Buffalo... he's not very good. Despite the goal I thought he was weak in general and didn't bring a lot to the game.

Holl... ouff, not pretty. Better than Marincin though.. that's all I got.

First off, the refs basically tied a bow around that game for the Habs. No penalty on the Mikheyev breakaway, no penalty on the Chiarot crosscheck on Matthews, and no penalty on the Rielly high-stick (blood) that LEAD TO A BREAKAWAY FOR THE HABS. That was all within a 5 minute span at the end of the game.

Secondly Keefe needs to get his head out of his ass. Play the five best players on the PP 1:30. Dont overthink it. Our best player tonight, Will? Without OT he played less than Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Thornton, and Hyman. Two of those are just absolutely unacceptable, and why is he playing SEVEN minutes less than Matthews/Marner. You have 4 stars. Dont burn out two and let the other two play average minutes.

Lastly, fire Bogosian into the sun.

Thornton with 17.5 min tonight. Wonder if that lasts. Interestingly coaches had no issue really cutting down others minutes. So seemingly they probably thought he was okay.

I think the Habs will give thr Oilers a good run for #2 spot in the division. That said, thought the Leafs didn't have a lot issues with them physically tonight
