Funny how the bullshit “slow” narrative disappears the moment the team actually skates.

I honestly think Holmberg helps a lot in this capacity yes he struggles to do anything else but he is a good and relentless skater
He’s slower than Robertson. I don’t get him at all right now. Was hoping he was a fourth line C replacement for Kampf, doesn’t look like it.

So I had to bail on the game last night because of the audio driving me nuts and being exhausted, can someone give me a summary of what happen the rest of the game, I caught the highlights, but how did the team blow a 4-0 lead and who took these penalties Berube was pissed about?

During last nights game I kinda had the same reaction that the refs were hunting the Leafs. A night to sleep on it and , we probably did everything they said we did, Then my mind goes to why did the Jets not get called, probably because in the 1st and 2nd they were a turnstile, they really just watched the Leafs go Harlem Globetrotters on them. Do the refs have a history of managing the game? Sure. Did the refs call some ticky tacky PIM's, sure. Do I think ref's in general have a hard time calling PIM's for the Leafs advantage, sometimes I do. In all NHL fan bases there is a general thought process that the Leafs are favoured by the League, i think the ref's hear this and dont want to look like they are playing favorites so they let more things go against us and tend to have a lower tolerance for Leaf shenanigans... Bunting is great case study... he was enemy #1 when he was a Leaf and now he is choir boy ... hard not to think there is an anti Leaf bias.

That double minor against the Leafs in the Boston game. There was an ice level replay that shows Pasta knocking Nylander's stick up into his own face. Do players have to have control of their stick? Yes absolutely, but if a player does something like that play, it's no different than a dive to draw a PIM, c'mon now how in god's green earth can anyone say Nylander was at fault, when Pasta provided all the energy to raise that stick into his own face? This is not anything new, Boston has for years played stump the chump with the refs. I'm not suggesting there is a bias for the Bruins, I'm suggesting Marchand, Pasta and some other Bruins are much much smarter than the refs on most nights and can and do easily manipulate the refs.
The double minor against Boston was weird in that it wasn’t called on the ice, that I could tell. The Leafs had possession of the puck for several seconds before they blew the whistle, and wasn’t that because the ref was injured.

Winnipeg is not very good and the Leafs were able to out skate them most of the night. When the Leafs have room to move unchecked, they’re very successful.

Winnipeg is actually slower, or at least they weren’t moving their feet last night. There was lots of space last night for the Leafs to move around, whereas Saturday they had no room to move.

He is a 4RW replacement when Berube eventually realizes Reaves is useless.

I didn't see the game because I don't have Prime and I watched the world series. Any it sounds like the Leafs played well, but their penalty killing caused a bit of a late game scare. Overall the Leafs were the better team and deserved the win.

Boston is slow. The Leafs are not a slow team, they're fine.

Dewar, Jarn and Hakapanaa will help the PK

Knies Matthews Marner
Pacioretty Tavares Nylander
McMann Domi Jarnkrok
Lorentz Kampf Dewar

McCabe Tanev
Rielly Hakanpaa
OEL Timmins

5v5 they continued to dominate, but they took 5 straight penalties and the PK was not great.

OEL's penalty was borderline ridiculous, Nylander's was questionable and Win scored on the 6-5.

Then they scored the 4th with the goalie pulled.

All 5v5 play they were excellent. Anytime it was not 5v5, they were awful

They call that Nylander penalty every night.

We were talking about speed though.
Speed and filling the space. When the Leafs are rushed and can’t make a pass or get a shot on net they have no answer. Overall Boston is a little quicker than Toronto and they can take away the ice and prevented them dumping and chasing.

Last night there were a couple Marner dump ins (very intelligent dump ins, by the way) and he was actually able to get to the puck at the same time or ahead of the D man. I don’t expect to see that very often.

All the outrage yesterday about line changes, particularly with putting Nylander back with Tavares looks pretty silly today.
It was one game, let’s hold our horses here. They however played well. Winnipeg is a slow team which helped that line out immensely. Still not convinced that line will
hold up over time.

That being said he pushed the right buttons. They need to clean up some things on special teams, 5 v 5 they dominated

I'm hard pressed to imagine a Tavares/Nylander/Pacioretty line being particularly dominant throughout a playoff run. I think they need to find something better than that.
