I normally don’t hate on the refs this much, but that was unreal bad officiating all AGAINST the leafs!! They pulled this off inspite of that and same very suspect goaltending. Big kudos!

This has to change

I actually thought Matthews looked pretty dominant but couldn't buy a goal. Not a great game from Sammy though

He had some bad turnovers that almost ended up in the back of the net but then had some really good defensive plays on the same shift.

I guess if you mess up, the best you can do is make up for it on the same shift.

The first game back aside, it has to be repeated that teams that play physical against the Leafs always gives them trouble. 36-11 in hits and another 1 goal game. I won't be convinced that being constantly hit won't wear a team down in a series. Far worse when the physical team is getting the PP opportunities

Maybe they will get lucky and draw the Devils in the playoffs. I don't want to overstate the importance but some physical presence couldn't hurt.

I also understand Keefes frustrations. The league can't have it both ways.

One of the funnier games in recent memory lol

Thought Leafs took over after the first period. Completely dominated the 3rd but the refs left their whistles in the dressing room.

They were more than willing to call a ticky-tack holding call on Tavares in the first minute, but after that they decided to let the Blues do whatever they want.

Jarnkrok with a heck of a game.
Samsonov didn't have a chance on two of those goals, but he was swimming a bit through the game.
Kamph, Engvall and Kerfoot were a force.
Brodie and Holl played a ton the last few minutes of the game. I'd like to see Keefe use Lilly a bit more in that situation. He's at the point of development where his game is solid and the next step will be when he's tasked with the important minutes late in the game. That kid is strong.
Timmins wrapping up O'Rielly in the last minute, kid has got some strength too.
I'm still very impressed with the way our D has held up with all the injuries.
Matthews...something is off. I have no idea what, but he's...can't figure it out.

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. William Nylander.

Take aways:

Samsonov is coming back to earth and is looking weak recently.

Matthews has some poor conditioning

Nylander is the best forward playing this year next to Marner

Our bottom six is awesome, excited to see Hunt in for Anderson
