Seattle is a young fast team that plays on da perimeter.. lots of skill but they have same problem we have had against tougher D -- we can't take da net .. but it was fun last night at Scotia up in top deck (dead down low) .. Woll and our collective D played solid .. but hats off to Patch .. I have to say I was not a fan of this signing but if he continues to play tough on puck like last night he stays up in my top 6 all day every day and twice on Sundays .. Patch is creating some many opportunities all over da ice .. it is letting Willy free wheel (although a couple times I heard Berube from my row 1 seats on bench -- man is he loud) .. his message was fine but I don't like his method of screaming .. it likely gets tuned out my youngins

Seattle kind of reminds me of a low end version of the general build of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes over the past decade. Skilled, speedy up front and a redwood forest on the back end. I can see what Ron Francis is trying to do but obviously it’s early days in their development as a franchise.

Good win, Line 2 worked like a page out of old school hockey textbook. Perhaps some chemistry...

Woll looked sharp and focused, my second time screening the game I watched him a fair bit, seems like a true pro, so poised and steady.

I've been a Leaf fan for many years, even saw the '67 win on black and white TV. I honestly think the GDT is becoming with all the unnecessary Marner bashing going on, just terrible. What is the point of all that?
Marner has been playing real well in all facets of the game. Loved the effort on that sliding block. That pass to Knies was sublime. Nothing to complain about. If he plays great, he'll get paid...win, win for him and the organization.

He has but what’s the rush to sign him until after the playoffs ? Hopefully they go on a run this season but if they flame out in the first round again, do you really want to run it back again for the 9th time with four players making over $45M ? That doesn’t even include Tavares and whatever they decide to do with him.

Tavares might not be a 11M dominant forward anymore... but I'll never understand why people just can't appreciate how hard working & productive he is at his stage of his career and through his tenure here. He's at 11 points in 10 games and 61% on faceoffs this season so far, among many other very good positive stats.

Some people seem to like Ryan Reaves more than John Tavares, which is really weird.
Every fan from the era likes Wendel Clark more than any current Leafs player.

He's been so damn steady. I feel like he's toned down on finding big hits, putting himself in tough situations, and he's been so much more consistent. Quickly becoming the #1 D at this pace.

So at age 31 he's getting better?

Well, he has played 600 games and they say for a defender it takes more than a couple hundred games to figure it out.

Johnny Toronto with that perfect pass to Styles from his knees with 4 Kraken hovering.

Max, JT and Willy bringing the heat again.
Pass from Pacioretty to Nylander, Nylander to Pacioretty for a shot on net, Tavares picks up the rebound and sends to Nylander. All well earned.

Not sure it was actually a pass to Nylander, but good things happen when you buzz around the net.

He almost always came through when it mattered...being a big goal or a big hit...something to spark the team. Sigh...I miss that guy.
We probably post it every season, but that guy was a beaut. My favorite player of all time.

Giving Tavares benefit of doubt, although wouldn't be surprised if it was supposed to be a shot on net ...
Still, fighting for pucks and winning battles brings good luck.

Very good professional W.
Second line was awesome, good to see Patches play well in that spot.
Woll returning and playing well is huge because we weren't going to be able to keep playing Stolarz that much.
Also cashed my Matthews anytime scorer bet
I admit...I did not see that kind of play from those three playing together (impressive)...so far anyway, but if they can keep it up, we might be on to something

Structured and as Bowen said, a workman like performance where all 4 lines were good
music to my ears

One of my favourite players growing up was Clark Gillies. To this day still maybe the strongest hockey player I have ever seen (and by strongest, I mean actual physical strength). Wendel was cut from a very similar cloth.

Agreed!

He was a point-per-game guy for 5 straight years when he got here, and has had a great start this season. Even his "down" year with "only" 65 points last season he still got 29 goals.

Tavares is a net-positive almost every shift. He's positionally sound, has a net-front presence, he cycles well and fights for pucks, he backchecks, wins face offs, and he has chemistry with almost anyone you put on his line. I don't get why so much of HFLeafs seems to hate the guy.

I consider myself a HFLeafs guy because I've posted here for a long time. The folks you're talking are called LeaFlanders who reside in a magical place called LeaFland. They observe hockey and have decided that the Maple Leafs are the team for them.

While they may not get a lot of what they might be seeing, it does make them feel like they are a part of something bigger. Narratives are the fuel that powers and sustains LeaFland and so they choose good. guys and bad guys. The reasons for those choices are logical sometime but most often the twists and turns of the reasoning creates headaches in even the most patient of us.
