With all the hand wringing in Leafland over the past 24 games: Nylander's getting 11+, goaltending sucks, Reaves, injuries, JT's contract, Marner where are you, Matthews consistency, our defence is 'who', Klingberg really, Domi with 1, Bert with 9 points...am I missing anything?

The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently 5th overall in points percentage per game in the NHL.

Maybe we get sucked into the negatives a bit too much? Just asking.
Sometimes people aren't happy without negativity. It's less scary than being positive. It is a very common defense mechanism for many people.

A lot of leafs fans think what they hear from the Toronto mediots is gospel. Most opinions reflect the Toronto media which is one of the worst in sports. IMHO

Matthews was that guy that you barely noticed and then pots two beauties. Hard to stop.

Yup, lots of no-shows tn.
That’s what AM needs to do more in the playoffs. Just needs a moment of brilliance here and there per game and bring Leafs the Cup.

How is it that the Leafs can win 8 of 11, win 4-0 tonight and I still don't feel good about this team? Am I just traumatized from years past at this point, or is this team winning despite so many deficiencies? I mean on one hand if they're winning despite issues, that's a good thing. If they get them straightened out, they'll be that much better.

I guess it just seems like this team is a bit of a mess, yet we keep winning. Not a bad thing. Just odd.

Either way, great win tonight.

Another nice game from Benoit
4 hits +-0 16 plus minutes
I like what he brings
Keeps it simple
I think Timmins can be that offensive dman we are looking for. Makes a nice first pass right on the tape.

That ladies and gentlemen was what we call a dominant performance

Zero complaints about anybody and it's great to see the boys makes Samsonov's life a lot easier as he takes over the starters job again

I'd also like to point out that teams lose a bit of offensive confidence after you annihilate a couple of guys as they try to enter the zone

Not a lot of fun when you're on the receiving end of it but it's awesome when you are the ones handing it out

You are just believing a narrative that isn't based in reality. This is a team with close to the least number of losses in the league, and yet people fall all over themselves to find reasons to complain. It's all just self-defense mechanisms. Give it 20 or 30 more games, with the team in first in the Atlantic, and people will start to believe.

Terrific response to the poor effort against Ottawa. Really good game by the 4th line, especially Kampf. I like Benoit’s steady game. Rielly with another monster effort. Samsonov was solid helped by 3 posts.

That must suck. I'm a pessimist by nature, there's a lot out there I don't like, but it's not about being scared. I love the good stuff and wish I saw more of it.

I follow Leaf media pretty closely and I honestly don't find them to be as bad as many here say. Yes, there are a few who write (speak) to excite, but generally, I find them simply offering opinion pieces, and that's what they have to do because they're being asked to present something every day. Whadaya going to do? Personally, I find Brownscombe and Petrielli from Maple Leafs Hot Stove to be two of the best.

People equate negativity with intelligence sadly, when it is 100% the opposite.
Really? I should take people's comments on Samsonov's save percentage or the team's "seriousness" as a reflection of their intelligence? I sure hope not. Emotional reactions, which is really all this is, are not a reflection of intelligence. Fans are scarred from being disappointed, so they react with negativity because it's a more comforting emotion than optimism. It's not rocket science. It's the reason why people don't want to mention the word "shutout" when the other team hasn't scored yet, or why people do the same things they did the last time the team won. It's all just defense mechanisms designed to avoid the feeling of disappointment. We all do it in way or another.

Great game, Benoit and McCabe are studs. Tre got nice D depth for peanuts. For those denigrating the win, Nashville was on a hot streak last 10 games.
