not everyone thinks the same as each other my friend. If that's how he felt that's how he felt. He wanted a RHD, so he was probably disappointed. Just because it wasn't the response you would give to acquiring Muzzin, doesn't mean it wasn't honest.

No coach craps all over a major add like that. Hell, they don't even crap all over weak additions.

It's inexcusable.

Torts shits on his players like no tomorrow.

Edit: have you watched the NFL by any chance or NBA? this is nothing new. And what babs said wasn't even that bad. He just said it's not what he was expecting when trading for a d.

That sure as hell was not a mocking!!! To be mocked is to be treated with contempt and derision. I do not think you know what the word mocked means.
Also, he was obviously referring to a situation where he asked for a right handed D to pair with Reilly and those comments had absolutely nothing to do with the personal attributes of Muzzin. But you already knew that...right? Mocked him!! Please!!!!

THANK YOU!!!

what's interesting is how much easier it is to give a great effort when you actually believe that the system you are playing gives you a real chance to succeed.

... And your coach doesn't plant you on the bench and send out a one-legged winger to play against one of the world's best centers in do or die game 7 moments..

I'm never letting that go. It's the most outrageous thing I've ever seen in my life as a Leafs fan.

Forgot about that. Yeah, that was pretty poor coaching.

That expression was used earlier in the discussion and nobody argued the point so I just went with it. To be fair, I can' t say I ever heard him moan. ;)
 It seems like it’s being made more of an issue than it was. Babcock was an ass though, no question.

show me one example of tortorella responding to his gm trading for a player like muzzin by crapping all over it?
So now you admit that he was responding to the situation and not "mocking" Muzzin? I know it is difficult for your ego to recover from a situation in which your emotions get the best of you and you misspoke, but just stop..

what?

I don't think "poor coaching" describes it very well. Babcock wanted HIS guys, who play the way HE wants, to be the heroes, to prove HIS way is the only way, to show that he's right and everyone else is wrong. It wasn't just poor coaching, it was him putting his ego before the team.

Who cares what he was referring to. He publicly complained about the Muzzin acquisition despite the fact it was a massive upgrade over what he had in his lineup because of handedness which is assinine.
And again, Rielly played the next 5 or 6 games on the right side with Muzzin and looked great, and Babcock split that up claiming it wasn't working when everyone and their brother could see it in fact did.

My post is in reference to a claim by Zeke that Babcock "mocked" Muzzin. I asked for proof. He supplied a quote in which Babcock did NOT mock Muzzin but was responding to a situation in which he asked for a right handed defenseman to play with Reilly. Babcock may well be the devil's brother, it does not matter in any event...but it does not give anyone the right to lie about a particular incident and then try to weasel out of it.

I'll tell you everything wrong with the NHL based on last nights game.

You won't find too many more dominating performances than the Leafs had last night over the Jets, yet the PP's were 4-1 in the Jets favour.

How is that even possible?

You don't get caved in that much and not take any infractions.

This league is pathetic because it's all about game-management, they won't give a team that's winning or dominating calls consistently...
Maybe they got caved in that badly because they weren't taking penalties. After all, if both teams play a completely clean game, shouldn't the better team win?

Because our PP is so good, they were careful not to take penalties, which gave our players more room. The only time there was a problem was when we got stuck in our own end, and we weren't as disciplined, and took penalties.

The better our PP gets, the more lopsided the calls should get.

Yeah I don't buy that. I mean, I understand what you are saying theoretically, but there were plenty of things in that game the ref could have called but didn't, on both sides. The difference is they just called us more.

ok he didn't "mock" Muzzin - he flat out INSULTED Muzzin, and his GM to boot.

better?

As usual, several things that could have been called, but I don't think it was bad. I thought the ones called were fair.

(I recall an NFL umpire saying that in any NFL game there was at least one penalty that could be called on virtually every play.)

The most egregious one was Scheifele going after Marner, but it was too late in the game to bother (as was Plonk's attempted hit).

I generally didn't have a problem with the calls we had go against us in the Jets game, just perplexed how it was determined the Jets only took one infraction despite being filled in for at least half the game.

Just because we were better it doesn't mean they had to take penalties. Their not taking penalties just made it easier for us to dominate.

Ok, how about we were blowing by them so fast they didn't have time to slash or hook us?:sarcasm:

Yes, but we could all see the penalties that didn't get called. They were definitely there.
