I'm happy to see him doing well. He's having fun, enjoying the game.

Crazy what some confidence and wins can do.
I can never understand any negative talk about him , he’s been there at the worst of times with terrible teams and teammates and he’s been classy , a leader , one of the best skaters in the league , strong , good enough defensively , always goes on the rush , honourable as a person , stand up player and person ..
You can’t say enough about MR .
I hope he’s a leaf for his career and if he is he would be second to The king Salming 1b
He’s one of my true favourites

I was telling my father too bc he loves McDavid. He's a great talent. But even my father (huge Oilers fan hates the Leafs bc of media), was saying McDavid is great at that one thing but he's become too predictable. Teams are adjusting. He has to adapt. He cant just skate fast anymore and cut in, because teams are surrounding him with few players and active sticks.

He was invisible except for one or two speedy rush.

Never thought it would be possible, but maybe McDavid has regressed.

McDavid thrives in open space, at even strength and especially on the PP. And to his credit, he is better at earning that open space than anyone in the league, with his speed and skill. But, in tight and in traffic, he's not really that good.

Whereas a guy like Matthews thrives in traffic, both with and without the puck. Magic hands in tight with big physical body positioning to boot.

anyone else remember off hand about the back to back shut outs .. pretty sure belfor shut out the senators game 2 and 3 in the 2004 playoffs so guessing they meant regular season only

Going a bit above .500 from here on basically locks up first place. I am hoping we start resting our players in April.

at that point wins don’t matter as much as making sure we’re healthy to start the playoffs.

I think marner with tavares isnt as dangerous and mitch isnt as good BUT I think we need two seperate lines going somewhat good then one dominate line and one mediocre.

I also believe that hyman is not a third line player. When matty is back, he is playing 23 mins a night which then has mitch line playing around 18-20 mins a night......hyman deserves more than 10-13 mins.

Hyman Matthews Nylander
Thornton Tavares Marner
Mikheyev Kerfoot Engvall

Then when simmonds is back. You replace engvall with simmonds.
So the Thornton, Tavares & Marner line would be the better line. They would most certainly outscore the Matthews line. How do you think that would make Matthews feel?

He probably told him Chiarelli is his biological father.

Wasn’t his dad Steve Chiasson, the Hurricane player who died in the car accident?

Alex would have been just a little kid at that time. I feel for him losing his dad so young, and have been rooting for him as a person and a player....:(

I’d have him on the Leafs pretty easily as Rielly replacement. And we would love his physicality if he was on our side.

Nurse would maybe, maybe replace Dermott on the Leafs. But he'd be a defensive downgrade.

I’m just going to be happy at the back to back shutouts against the best player in the world and reigning league mvp.

Im trying my darnedest to not get worked up at insane things like “Marner is better than McDavid”.
It’s really hard. But I’m trying.

I feel like Matthews does a lot of things very, very well. Goal scoring he's generational no doubt.

Whereas McDavid has the generational speed/puck handling but leaves a lot to be desired in other areas of game.

One of the things I'm really enjoying seeing this season is that they've really started to develop consistency in their effort levels. Even if they're not quite on, they're still solid defensively, and then they're showing the ability to flip a switch and take over a game.

Having a real system in place makes it much, much easier to look consistent and look like you're working hard.

Oh come on dude. Now you made me feel bad.

I was just making a joke.

Thornton - Matthews - Nylander
Kerfoot - Tavares - Marner
Mik - Engvall - Hyman
Simmonds - Spezza - Boyd

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
Dermott - Bogo

Marner's game has improved much more than McDavid's has, give it another season and maybe we'll be there. Last summer he developed a shot, maybe this summer he'll turn into a 6' 200 pound wrecking ball.

I really doubt that personally. Matthews can score 50 goals no matter what in my eyes. Nylander can pot 60-70 points playing with matty. Hyman can pot 30-40 points as well.

I think mitch would suffer more honesty playing with those lines.
