Commanding win. Mikheyev is scaring teams. If he starts scoring it would be nice but the other work he does is elite. Engvall. I rip him hard. He was one of our best players last two games. That line of Engvalls is just dominant. That’s the first time i ever call any line Engvall was on his line. Amazing, looks like he hit a switch. He’s now on a equal footing with me after them two games. Thats the way he can play. Possibly even better. 6 periods of nothing for the Oil. :)

That is Hyman line though. He consistently makes any line he is on better. Can we finally clone him please?
Also our skilled guys should teach Mikheyev three moves. And he should just cycle through them. It's pathetic how he wastes so many good opportunities as it seems he does not know what to do after he is in clear and on breakaway.

This is a bad take because you are opinioning like you are right. I’d argue you have zero proof. I won’t care either if we get the home ice edge through the entire playoffs. I want to be best in the League. I think we will. Boston sucks. 13 goals against the Rangers in 2 games and looked horrible. The rest are not faster. I can’t even believe you think that. I watch and don’t see this big difference. I just don’t . Leafs are best ranked team by everyonebthat ranks teams. I wonder why? Do you not wonder why they completely disagree with your take .
Of course everyone has a take because bottom line there are no interdivisional games ... I think we are in da conversation and I hope we can compete once we get out of north ... my take is based solely off of playing against better competition makes you a better team ... Tampa playing against Florida, Carolina and Dallas will push them harder and they will lose some more games than we will because of tougher competition ... same with bruins against Caps and Flyers ... and Vegas against Avs and Blues ... we got da Peg who i would not put in with any of teams i mentioned above ... and I am talking about winning a Cup here ... it is tough to jump to next level when you have not seen next level

I don't see it as a bad take ... it is being honest about it ... Leafs are best of north ... watch Vegas, Tampa, Boston, Carolina even Florida play ... they are faster and stronger on puck ... we would likely be in 3rd place in Atlantic, maybe 4th ... but Atlantic was/is best division in hockey bar none ... and don't forget we lost to 4th place team in Metro in play in round ... I hope league figures out how to better deal with Atlantic next year ... like lets go with top 8 teams in Atlantic and Metro make playoffs and seed by point totals ... then watch Metro go out in 1st round across da board
You don’t think we’re a legit contender?

We will see in semi finals where things truly stand ... I hope you are right but we have not played a game yet where we have been truly and completely trapped and had to rely on defense/tending to decide a 0-0 game ... outside of da Peg no one else can even get close to playing us like that in a playoff game ... da more I see we will get a decent test against da Peg in north final which should help us ramp up to da next level ... i would like to see one more vet depth defender for injuries and 1 more strong bruising hard to play playoff winger who can skate
You’re forgetting that we are a markedly better team than we were 8 months ago.
Much better structure in the d zone, more balanced and a little more grit.
This is night and day with the team that lost to Columbus.

The last few games have told me that Vecey may not even be the 13th forward in the depth chart. I definitely have Barabanov ahead of Vecey now.

The taxi squad is calling, and the taxi is waiting to take Vecey away.

We score the most and give up the least. Thats the sign of a solid team. Just shut down the leagues top two scorers. There is some quality on Leafs the others haven’t ran in to. This is not anything like the team Columbus put out. Pretty soon its half way point. 5 more games. All 4 divisions have 2 bad teams to feed on. Winnipeg isn’t going to have to be just alright to beat us. They will need their a game with a vezina goalie. We have it all going including significant injuries and don’t miss a beat. We are looking better even with injuries. The injury players all hold roster spots. Still likely going to improve. I don’t mind modesty but this board is looking for something to complain about that is not there.
I don’t have to guess at the league standing. We are the best. :)

Love that side of Dermott's game. He's always had an edge going back to his Otters days and playing with Bogo gives him some confidence.

Would like to see Simmonds or Bogosian give him a few pointers in practice so he doesn't get in over his head like the Brouwer fight.
Bogo reads HF:

If want to call yourself the best, you have to compete against the best.

I’d love to watch that. How do we set it up?
This might sound like a bit of a wild idea, but stay with me. What if at the end of the season all of the best teams from each division play each other in a, let's say, best of 7 series. Then the winner of those series' would go on to play the best teams from other divisions in a best of 7 series, and so on. We could award the last remaining team with some kind of trophy. Perhaps a bowl or a plate or jug or something kitcheny. I'm still trying to work it all out. Just a rough idea.

It's odd that the best player in the world can be so one dimensional. When teams buckle down they've had success at pushing McDavid out of games.

I've posed this question before: what does McDavid become once he loses a step? You can't just skate full throttle game in and out your whole career. He's a smart enough player to adapt I would think, as he still sees the ice as good as any.

I'd say he's in his true prime right now, people want him here at 28 (myself included) but who knows what type of player he'll be by then.

no worries, man. At that time 49 years young Joe Thornton will teach him few tricks on how to stay productive until that age.

Not yet they don’t. It’s unfortunate for the Canadian division playing us. The American teams are off the hook for a bit yet. They can call themselves the best with help from leaf fans. Like you said, they have proven nothing and our points in the standing ate worth as much as theirs
