Matthews and Marner are unreal together for obvious reasons: elite passing and elite shooting.

If Matthews shot isn't 100% I think it's better to go back to the Marner/Tavares/Hyman line. Stick Nylander with Matthews and let Nylander be the shooter.

I would at least try:

AG-AM-WN
ZH-JT-MM

Sadly people have been saying this for weeks but to no avail. Chief Keefe will not listen.

I don’t know why you’re laughing. Again I’m not even criticizing him.

because if the wrist was an issue he wouldn’t be playing. It just people trying to come up with a reason as to why he’s not burying. But let’s be honest, the whole teams offense is dry right now. Also teams are checking the Matthews line tightly now, they literally give him no space to make the plays he was able to before.

I think moving him back with Nylander where they can do their cross seam plays will help.

There's no two ways about it, if Matthews isn't a one shot scoring threat, the entire complexion of our offense changes, and if John Tavares' 50 goal form continues to be a fading memory, it could get ugly.

I don’t know. I’ve liked Nylander Tavares and Galchenyuk better than the Matthews line right now but they just can’t seem to buy a goal.

Bet they will score big against the Oilers and Jets.

If Campbell continues to give them solid goaltending, they will win 3 out of 4 at least.

I don't see it as an issue right now. He's been reluctant to use his drag in wrister all year, but he's going to one-time areas now and using it (like the glove save).

It's more of an issue that he's being overplayed than reluctant to shoot IMO

Yeah, I agree. What we really miss are those heavy, straight line and dominant skating shifts from Matthews which we saw earlier in the year, which tilted the ice and resulted in so many scoring chances. He’s playing that tentative over handle the puck and make finesse plays game right now. Can’t say if it’s pain or just a slump or some combination.

That goal was on nylander all the way. Stranded his goalie by lollygaging and letting he forechecker beat him uncontested.
No, just no. It's a basic play that Campbell botches. It happens, but it's a bad play by the goalie

But they’ve said it was an issue, even Reilly commented on it. We agree to disagree, I see it affecting the PP, the Marner looking for the Matthews one timer is gone, and 34 seems in his head a bit. I lllooovvveee him to death, just concerned something is nagging and it doesn’t go away. We are legit cup contenders with maximum Matthews.

He will probably pot one this period ;)

Can't have Marner and Matthews both carrying the play and the puck at the same time. It's marner's night, so it relegated Matthews to the trigger man right now.

I'd switch it up personally, even if just temporarily

Tonight doesn’t look like domination man. This is Toronto playing to Ottawa’s game plan, a lot of broken nasty plays with our skill advantage negated and a deceptive shot count. And terrible power play. This isn’t what we want to be doing.
And what do you call 2 out of the 3 games against the Jets and the first game against Calgary where they only allowed 18 shots (the fewest all season) and Andersen still had a .778 SV%?

Watching the Leafs dominate like that and still lose is not common. Despite their play tonight, they're still in this game. Immediately blaming the core when it's been extremely rare to see .858 SV% stretches from the goaltending is a lazy excuse.

i also wonder if the message from the coaching staff has been to play more of a complete game with playmaking.

I thought it was better than the 1st. But they definitely should continue to step up for the 3rd
Interesting, I thought we were much better in the first personally. A bad goal cost us, generated a little less (still a post and two breakaways in the first) but didn't allow a chance that I can recall
