Yeah, I agree. What we really miss are those heavy, straight line and dominant skating shifts from Matthews which we saw earlier in the year, which tilted the ice and resulted in so many scoring chances. He’s playing that tentative over handle the puck and make finesse plays game right now. Can’t say if it’s pain or just a slump or some combination.

I think the loss of his distance shooting from his arsenal is changing how he's playing, he can't play the game the same way

I don't believe that analytics actually support the Dubas /Keefe style of play as being the most effective. When much worse teams are able to consistently nullify our offense using the NZ trap and Lou / Trotz are more successful every year.
