Stephan definitely made no attempt to protect himself or brace the hit. So in my mind he's just gambling his health for a chance at a power play. It probably should have been a penalty regardless but sometimes you lose.

Also, Komorav's visor still helps protect when blocking shots as long as he positions properly.
