If you've ever played hockey you'd notice that that was a snap split second decision. That's a good penalty to take.

So you are saying that Phaneuf should have lifted the stick from that position, with no leverage, on Kreider, who just happens to be one of the strongest players in the league?

If you knew anything about the speed of the play you would know he reacted instinctively... And it worked.

I'll never understand why that's a penalty. Routine stick check that happens 200 times a game, but if it happens to snap the stick then it's illegal?

If its not called, than players would be hacking at each others sticks.

Taking unnecessary retaliation penalties and slashing penalties is being nasty? That is not the old Dion at all. Before he would steamroll players on great checks and clapper goals. Where did that guy go?

I think Anson Carter put it best in the firs intermission: the Leafs had a handful of odd-man rushes with no shots to show. This team competes and wins will have to be earned.
