We got 4th pick last year and only ended up with Marner. Big deal. Look at Buffalo and Edmonton? They look good with their franchise players whereas all we have is Marner a smallish player like Kadri or Nylander. Big deal. Same thing can happen next year with a weak draft year.

marner looks like a franchise player, putting up numbers not common in his draft year. He is not an "only" he is an amazing piece to add to rielly, kadri, jvr, gards, and other amazing piece in nylander(who is as good as ehlers, larkin, domi imo) along with kaps and brown. We have been stacking talent for a couple of years now and next year, we will see most of them play.

I feel like believing you can predict a player's entire career based on their first two pre-season games as an 18 year-old is a tad overconfident.
