He literally just grabbed one of the players double-teaming Tavares, and then immediately let go and stood there when the ref came in.
There's nothing Bunting can do if the refs stubbornly refuse to reconsider their position on Bunting, despite him following exactly what they want him to do.

Who build Bunting reputation? Bunting... hes crying after EVERY PENALTY he get, hes crying for every opponent penalty uncall. They embelish to draw penalty... hes created his own reputation no ref will never reconsider anything with Bunting. if exemple its oreilly unstead of bunting, i dont thing they call it but it wqs Bunting and he will never get benefit of the doubt because of everything i just said

I voted Leafs in 4 to be spiteful. I have sportmanship fatigue from being humble just to face the cup champs. Just dummy these guys and become the villain.

Sometimes I wonder what the league would do if we leaned into the reffing like early 2010s Boston. Wilson-Kadri-Tkachuk up front and then overpay for every short handed threat and the best PK goalie you can find, force them to call 10+ a game on us until something breaks.

This is the best Leaf’s team assembled in some time, particularly built for the playoffs.

Tampa is still a good and dangerous team, but they aren’t as good as they once were.

A loss says more about character at this point, than talent.

They have some guys that have won in the not so distance past. ROR winning the Cup and Conn was not a fluke and hopefully his tenacity continues and becomes contagious.

The refs, by not doing their job, and to such a ridiculous, blatantly obvious extent that it would make any sane person upset. They're putting Bunting in serious danger, because players (rightfully) feel like they can abuse him and try to injure him and they'll not only face zero consequences, but they may even get a PP for their team.

Heck, if the refs were doing their job, "reputation" wouldn't even matter. The fact that you're talking about "reputation" really just shows how comfortable we've gotten with corruption in this league.

The call on Bunting was particularly bad. There were like 3 Lightning players going after Tavares and then Bunting gets a call for joining.

I give you an other exemple in real life... you working with someone complain about everything and always complaining about your work... do you think you will react with him the same way than the rest of working team? The answer is no

Bunting doesn't complain about every call. Bunting complains when the refs completely screw up their job and personally target him and put him in danger, and he hasn't even been doing that lately. But that's besides the point. Whether or not he has respect from the refs shouldn't matter. The ref's job is to call the game by the rulebook, not manipulate it based on who they respect. If they're not able to do that, they shouldn't have the job.

I don't understand how people can argue against this. If the refs don't like his antics, that's what misconduct penalties are for. They still need to call penalties that are warranted that Bunting draws, or it's just low-key game fixing based on....personalities.

I was thinking about this last night. I think if they want Knies to play then they'll take out ZAR or Lafferty first, but if Bunting gets in trouble penalty wise in Game 1 then it wouldn't surprise me to see him sit. We just can't risk him giving up multiple PP's to Tampa per game.

That said, after his 'fight' with Perry and that second penalty, he seemed to be a bit more chill the rest of the game. There was a moment where someone knocked the stick out of his hands as he was skating back to the bench and rather than complaining or going after the guy he just raised his hands in the air a bit to show that he wasn't retaliating. If he can keep his cool and walk the line he has some value for us for sure.

Again, this is not about "borderline calls". This is about the refs making stuff up out of nowhere, or blatantly ignoring obvious infractions. But "respect" should not factor in to the ref's job anyway. If it does, they are corrupt and unfit for the job.

Da NHL Jacobs gang of 10 will see to it that refs try to f*ck us over .. but even they know it won't be enough this year .. our team should take this in 5 games (Vasi will win 1) but refs likely give Tampa 1 more win .. we have too much for them now .. we will grit grinder Tampa .. Cooper was so shocked last night it made me LOL .. he knows too .. we actually out grit grindered Tampa .. as much as Knies is good he can only hurt us in playoffs against Tampa or Boston .. we need to keep all our grit grinders in every game .. ROR will lead team to victory

I think he could play .. don't get me wrong .. but rooks can give away a lot of pucks being just a bit to slow in their puck release .. and I have seen 5 or 6 incidents of guys stealing pucks from him past 2 games .. it undermines da grit grinding game required to win

1- im not talking about 1 specific game but about every game...

2- im not telling im not agree but at the end ref are human..if bunting just trashtalk all the time about their work, rules book for him will be much stricter...just watch Marchand, its exactly the same thing and ref reacting with him the same way than Bunting...
