He literally just grabbed one of the players double-teaming Tavares, and then immediately let go and stood there when the ref came in.
There's nothing Bunting can do if the refs stubbornly refuse to reconsider their position on Bunting, despite him following exactly what they want him to do.
They have some guys that have won in the not so distance past. ROR winning the Cup and Conn was not a fluke and hopefully his tenacity continues and becomes contagious. This is the best Leaf’s team assembled in some time, particularly built for the playoffs.
Tampa is still a good and dangerous team, but they aren’t as good as they once were.
A loss says more about character at this point, than talent.
The refs, by not doing their job, and to such a ridiculous, blatantly obvious extent that it would make any sane person upset. They're putting Bunting in serious danger, because players (rightfully) feel like they can abuse him and try to injure him and they'll not only face zero consequences, but they may even get a PP for their team.Who build Bunting reputation?
He's actually been MASSIVELY toned down ever since the Keefe comments a couple weeks ago. It's pretty obvious Dubas talked to the league, with receipts, they set out a plan to reset the situation, Bunting is holding up his end of the bargain, and the refs are ignoring it and continuing to let people abuse him.hes crying after EVERY PENALTY he get, hes crying for every opponent penalty uncall.

Heck, if the refs were doing their job, "reputation" wouldn't even matter. The fact that you're talking about "reputation" really just shows how comfortable we've gotten with corruption in this league.

If refs think Bunting embellished on a play, then call him for embellishment when it happens, and call everybody else in the league when they embellish all of the time too.So its ref fault if bunting embelish the biggeet part of his carreer and ref fault bunting just CANT accept they did something Wrong and get a penalty?
The call on Bunting was particularly bad. There were like 3 Lightning players going after Tavares and then Bunting gets a call for joining."Picking one player out of the pile" is a lame excuse for excusing biased officiating.

It is not justification for ignoring the rulebook and treating a player differently than everybody else. That is what we call corruption.
The refs are the ones that have created the insane situations that have caused Bunting to be justifiably upset in the past, and even if you think he should just take it and shut up in those situations, the fact is that Bunting has been doing exactly that lately in an obvious attempt to reset the situation, and he's still being singled out and freely abused.
Bunting doesn't complain about every call. Bunting complains when the refs completely screw up their job and personally target him and put him in danger, and he hasn't even been doing that lately. But that's besides the point. Whether or not he has respect from the refs shouldn't matter. The ref's job is to call the game by the rulebook, not manipulate it based on who they respect. If they're not able to do that, they shouldn't have the job.If Bunting complaining about every call ref made... Do you think he will ever have any kind of respect came from ref?
I don't understand how people can argue against this. If the refs don't like his antics, that's what misconduct penalties are for. They still need to call penalties that are warranted that Bunting draws, or it's just low-key game fixing based on....personalities.Bunting doesn't complain about every call. Yeah a bit weak but consistent with the rest of the game. The call on Bunting was particularly bad. There were like 3 Lightning players going after Tavares and then Bunting gets a call for joining.

I was thinking about this last night. I think if they want Knies to play then they'll take out ZAR or Lafferty first, but if Bunting gets in trouble penalty wise in Game 1 then it wouldn't surprise me to see him sit. We just can't risk him giving up multiple PP's to Tampa per game.Yeah a pick weak but consistent with the rest of the game.
Bunting worked hard for his rep, he has to deal with it now.
Personally, I'll be glad when he's off the team.
It was good to see him finally stand up instead of the chirp and hide he's known for.I was thinking about this last night. That said, after his 'fight' with Perry and that second penalty, he seemed to be a bit more chill the rest of the game. There was a moment where someone knocked the stick out of his hands as he was skating back to the bench and rather than complaining or going after the guy he just raised his hands in the air a bit to show that he wasn't retaliating. If he can keep his cool and walk the line he has some value for us for sure.
Last night.Seriously i dont remembered the last time i saw bunting took a penalty and didn't complain about it...
I don't see anybody else getting so irrationally abused by the refs on the team, or any team for that matter.do you see anybody else doing it in the team?
Again, this is not about "borderline calls". This is about the refs making stuff up out of nowhere, or blatantly ignoring obvious infractions. But "respect" should not factor in to the ref's job anyway. If it does, they are corrupt and unfit for the job.if he cabt respect ref, ref will not respect him and every border line call they will get it and will not get those call against him... it what it is
I don’t know man, Tampa cried and yelled after every single call against them and you don’t see ref “retaliation” for it. I get what you’re saying, Bunting has a bad rep, and a deserved one. But how does that excuse the horrendous personal calls against him? Are you saying it’s fine that the refs can make crap up against him in order to penalize him for yelling at them too much. There have been multiple overt wrong calls against Bunting in the past while. Along with the refs allowing opposing players to do what they want to him (ex, 3 cross checks against him and he goes to the box, the one last night where three players jump O’Rielly (or was it JT) and Bunting goes to help and gets the penalty? It’s gotten a bit ridiculous.Seriously i dont remembered the last time i saw bunting took a penalty and didn't complain about it...so YeS i still sayinghes complaining all the time... i didn't consider anything else than his own penalty right now...
do you see anybody else doing it in the team? No hes the only one...if he cabt respect ref, ref will not respect him and every border line call they will get it and will not get those call against him... it what it is
He's kinda big for his age.as much as Knies is good
I think he could play .. don't get me wrong .. but rooks can give away a lot of pucks being just a bit to slow in their puck release .. and I have seen 5 or 6 incidents of guys stealing pucks from him past 2 games .. it undermines da grit grinding game required to winHe's kinda big for his age.
I think he can handle himself.
He's our best left winger.
and he's strong on the boards.
You wanna see Schenn and McCabe go off ? Any targeting of Knies will result in a slug fest.
Say the Leafs go up 2-0 vs Tampa (Samsonov is a must both games).
Do you play Woll in the third game ?
I think you do and you let him play until
(1) Sammy wants the net
OR
(2) Woll loses one game.
