Say the Leafs go up 2-0 vs Tampa (Samsonov is a must both games).

Do you play Woll in the third game ?
I think you do and you let him play until

(1) Sammy wants the net

OR

(2) Woll loses one game.
Sammy plays every game if he wins or if he doesn't explode under pressure .. only time you switch to Woll is if Sammy mentally explodes

If we look beyond round 1, Sammy may benefit from a little R&R.

Of course, closing out Tampa in 4 would bring some good rest.

I'm not sure what I'd do.

I think playing Woll at all in the first round would be a risky move as the coach and Keefe and Dubas are gone with a round 1 exit ... so Woll is likely just a backup.

Reactions: JT AM da real deal
So its ref fault if bunting embelish the biggeet part of his carreer and ref fault bunting just CANT accept they did something Wrong and get a penalty? No its bunting fault...he created it and now he need to withdraw his reputation and its certainly not by continuing whats created that reputation they he will be able. Bunting better concentrate himself to play hockey like eveyvody doing?
What about the reputation of many Tampa players who get away with equal or worse? Why is this selective? The fact is that officiating isn't supposed to be biased. That is the core problem.

I don't want to get deep into this issue as i don't think it will matter against Tampa (against Boston though i fear it) .. da goal review committee in Toronto does not have 1 single Canadian on team .. da refs consist of 2 Toronto guys now (wes and a new guy who won't get playoff duty) .. da Ontario refs are guys from O which has never liked TO .. and of course da French refs who always hated TO .. and then da American refs who quite frankly probably care da least except da Boston crew who should be ruled out of LeafsvBoston much like Wes should be ruled out too .. refs are former players and biases are there from childhood .. it is like built in racism or sexism it takes years and years to root out

In five years to be exact. Maybe this year year a draftee from the current regime will suit up for a playoff game, unlike last year.
Erm...

Multiple players, drafted by this regime, played in the playoffs last year...

Jumping out to a 2-0 series lead shouldn't make the Leafs look past Tampa/Round 1 and ahead to Round 2. I likely wouldn't be looking to fix that which doesn't seem to be broken.

I think he could play .. don't get me wrong .. but rooks can give away a lot of pucks being just a bit to slow in their puck release .. and I have seen 5 or 6 incidents of guys stealing pucks from him past 2 games .. it undermines da grit grinding game required to win
Tampa had 2 under 23 D and Cirelli on their first cup run.

Has no rookie ever played on a Stanley Cup winning team?

I don't think it will matter either way as he won't be a difference maker on defensive end which is what is required in grit grinder playoff hockey .. but if you take a Bunting or a Kerfoot out i don't think it will change balance of our new grit grinder game .. if you take out a Reese or a Lafferty or a Acciari then you can hurt our chances to win .. playoff hockey is not about scoring goals it is about not giving up glorious chances for other team to score and then grinding down your opposition and wait for PP .. unlike regular season hockey which is all about scoring more goals and winning skill game .. 2 completely different games

And who are you talking about? Maroon? Hes probably the only one i see.. he took pratically the same number of penalty than bunting and drawn like half of bunting...

bunting is 3rd in NHL since he signed in Toronto for penalty drawn... Bunting alone drawn more penalties than Marner and Matthews together...

Cirelli went down like a bag of bricks when Rielly touched him last night. I am assuming the refs will have a personal vendetta against him for the next 6 months seeing as how things have gone for Bunting...right?

This is the best our forward group has been.
This is the best our defence group has been.
This is the best our goaltending group has been.

Depth and skill wise.

No excuses.

Yes.

Sorry, but that's ridiculous. You want the Leafs to look beyond Round 1 if they're able to get a 2-0 series lead against the 3 time Stanlry Cup finalist Tampa Bay Lightning? Especially given the Leafs lack of playoff success?

I'm comfortable that Woll could step in if needed, but if Sammy plays well and remains healthy enough to play then it'd be ridiculous to sit him.... Even if the series is 3 - 0 and were up by 3 goals in the 4th game.

Do whatever it takes to win the first series and as quickly as possible... then worry about the next one.

I don't disagree.

What if Sammy wasn't 100% healthy ?

What if Sammy is off a bit, and we lose the first two games ?

It was more a strict call than anything else...

Im pretty sure bettman talked to ref before the game and asking to be really strict all game long and call everything and it was what they did...
