only logical conclusion is that he needs season-ending surgery. I'd prefer he get it now than in the off season -- he'll probably miss the first few months of next season if he waits til off season.
So you want us to just punt the season away like that?

Why would yuou break up a working line in that 3rd line. Leave that as is

Joe has done really well on top line. He's not the reason that line isn't effective. Auston and Marner needs to show up as well

The team other than the 3rd line needs to get engaged more. If top two line are not scoring, they are essentially figure skating. Especially Nylander. I really want to like him but he takes way too many shifts off. When he's on, he's good. When he's not, he's just down right horrible. He simply missing that "x' factor he always had. He looks so slow this year
Yes sire, Big Joe's been a treal twerker up in there. He has been one of our best forwards this season. Amazing to see as a long time sharko follower. We will keep the first line intact and move some other fool puzzles in the dirty fourth and even second line. We are that much bout OUR money and our POWER. Our personel is real cool this season. Lets continue to watch and make notes sire of all of this.

Lmao. Needing "season ending surgery" is not even close to the "only logical conclusion".

So then why are we playing someone badly injured and unable to even shoot the puck when the games are largely meaningless and we're in 1st place? It makes no sense. Rest him if it's something he can recover from.

edit - nevermind, others have come up with other possibilities that could be just as true. Hoping it's just a deep bruise or something like that.

The games aren't meaningless, and for the record, he has 15 shots in the 3 games since returning. It's just he more-so has a normal player's shot right now instead of Matthews' normal laser beam of death.

The other conclusion one could make from a heavy crash into the boards that results in a non structural wrist injury that doesn't require surgery, and creates enough discomfort to limit certain wrist movements and requires more time to get better could be a deep bruise...

I mean, no.

Its entirely possible that its an injury that just doesnt get better quickly while in use. But a 3-4 month off season will do it. He can still play, hes just not 100% effective. And lets not pretend likes hes been entirely inefective. Hes hit the post in the last couple games.

The numbers may not support this but the Leafs seem to rise/lower to their competition. Oilers gaining ground, spanked 'em. Canucks and Flames outside looking it, drop 3 of 4 and a last-minute goal from 4 of 4. To be fair, Vancouver had been starting to play better.

In any case, I expect the Leafs to be highly motivated for this series and while I don't expect a sweep, 2 of 3 would be a good look. Hope they send the same message tonight to the Jets that they did to the Oilers: "You come at the king, you best not miss."

It's a shame we're facing the Jets with Matthews nursing an injury, but it will be a good litmus test for us nonetheless.

Seems there are many wrestling fans over at Jets GDT thread...

How about a mention to our very own Ontario boy who just won this year's men's WWE Royal Rumble match Adam (Edge) Copeland who btw happens to be a HUGE Leafs fan:

Edge on Steve Dangle:
"...your claim to fame is that you are a Leafs fan ...like the rest of Ontario and half of Canada"

Man can't wait for the #1 and #2 picks to face off again. Still debatable which one should have gone first... :fight:
