Anyone less interested in Leafs playoffs after losing Tavares like that?
I just hope he's alright moving forward at this time.
After such a high leading into the game last night, that injury and short handed goal to lose the game has put me on such a low.
Every year we lose a major piece to our lineup. every year....
Kadri out 2x
Muzzin with that freak accident
and now Tavares with this freak accident as well.
Feels like I was put here just to suffer

Really hope Tavares is good moving forward.

No possibility of Nylander at center eh? I feel like he has played it more recently than Foligno.

JT aside, I do wonder about this team. Every single year teams pick up the pace, or find players who will run through the boards to win, but this team refuses to do the same. Or we run into a goalie who steals games, or we run into a team that absolutely hammers us physically. What the heck do we have to do to realize the magnitude of moment, the importance of the playoffs.

You see a team like Montreal and outside of Anderson they don't move fast or have a player that would be in the top 6 on most playoff teams, but they all play one game and hit hit hit hit and win.

I am really starting to wonder if high end talent is truly needed for playoffs, or is the absolute need an elite guy with high end grit.

But it does seem like our guys don't take things serious enough. Marner literally gets nullified because of physical play.
Marner and Point are similar in stature, Point excels in the playoffs though. Maybe Point is just better than Marner, but I think Marner should be able to play better than he did yesterday.

Most teams have 1 guy like a Pasta or a Kessel but rarely do teams have 2/3 guys like that .. we got Mik, Mitch, Willy, Kerfoot and sometimes Matty (although not last night) who are all no hitters who can go invisible .. i think we just have too many in da lineup who don't have killer instinct to win at all costs

Could very well be. I just ask myself "would I want to keep allowing myself to get beat up every year" that goes for the whole team. When do you stand up and say "not anymore"

Honestly I liked Willy's game last night until he put the puck over the glass because he was scared to get hit. He laid the body a couple times which surprised me.

Mikheyev's tenacity just completely disappears in the playoffs, happened last year vs Columbus too. There's zero point to icing this guy if he's not bringing the game he usually does. Looked like softest Russian I've ever seen last night.

I agree .. I said Willy in general in playoffs but not last night except for 1 play .. Willy has da speed to beat people and shift to next gear .. my only issue is sometimes next guy has you in a hitting position and you have to be able to take a big hit to make a play .. draw a guy in with hit and hit open guy for a goal .. it is that little bit more of a sacrifice for da team .. I have seen Mitch play from time he was 5 and I have never seen it .. but i think Willy has possibility of sacrificing more .. if we go down to Habs then Mitch has to be traded this summer likely along with Rielly as we rebuild this team

Killed my enjoyment of the series before it even started. f***in, whatever man. Lose a center early in the series check, other goalie goes prime Hasek check, lose the game late in the third off a breakaway check, yep it's a rerun.

Point skates twice as fast as Mitch .. you are comparing apples and oranges .. height does not mean fast

I am first and foremost a fan of Marner and was ecstatic when he fell to us where he did.
Having said that, I can't help but get the feeling he is a spoiled entitled kid. Never did have to earn anything coming from a wealthy family. He just doesn't push through to the next level, isn't used to being challenged since he dominated all levels of his hockey life (except nhl playoffs).
I come from a blue collar working family (I do have a college education) and his effort on many nights sickens me. All the talent in the world but will not challenge himself. It is offensive to me, and if he was my son he would get an earful and more.
My father served in WW2 and worked hard his whole life, we all did in the family so entitled kids are not my cup of tea. Grow up Mitch or ship out!!!
When Ottawa traded Karlson they became a better team without him (plenty of draft picks to rebuild the team). I wouldn't mind this here if he doesn't show more gumption.
My rant for the day.

It feels weird to not think we will come back next game. I'm just sitting here like I dont care anymore but go leafs go.
I didnt capitalize that on purpose. that's how low I feel on this.
Hope they can win this series for Tavares and make me remember what it's like to win a series. maybe hear all the cars honking their horns again if that will even be a thing anymore.

Nylander has 3 goals and 4 assists in that same time frame while playing over 20 minutes just once.
The Nylander hate just won't end for some people. It's especially funny to me cause he scored last night in front of the net after laying a big hit. Two things he is constantly knocked for because he doesn't do them enough....

It’s not shocking considering how both players are treated, but I don’t think anyone has mentioned how good Nylander was yesterday and how bad Marner was.

It’s shocking how Marner can’t elevate his game for the playoffs. I get he’s a player who likes space, but he always elevated his game in the OHL playoffs. In the NHL, I can’t think of one game from him that I actually liked.
p***y. When the going gets tough….

As I mentioned in the other thread, I thought Campbell looked off/kinda favoured his left leg (same leg he injured) at some point during the 3rd.

Could just be maintenance, who knows.. hope he is good to go tomorrow.

I picked this up in real time last night. I pointed it out. Campbell was not good last night.
