I dont' know why you chose players instead of goalies
Sure they go through slumps

Brodeaur, Roy, Hasek, Price, Rask they all went through slumps. They also had multiple winning seasons and starting goalies by age of 23

Maybe this is who he is, not a starter. I mean he's 30 and never been a starter
You could be right. But it's a long season and he could find him previous form soon enough.

He's on the third pair now

Like I said "more time in the cooker"... AKA, he needs to be replaced in the lineup before the deadline, and he needs to go back to playing big time minutes with the Marlies for another year. It looks like he's going to take the more traditional route to becoming a decent NHL defenseman, coming into his prime at 25-26 years old. He's simply not ready at 22 and that's ok. Not every guy is.

Look at a guy like Mackenzie Weegar in Florida. At 22 and 23 he was still with Portland and Springfield. He played his first full time season in Florida as a 24 year old and he contributed 2 goals and 8 total points on the season. He was better as a 25 year old and even better as 26 year old. He came into his prime 2 years ago, at 27. Now he's a stud... But he wasn't even sniffing the NHL at 22.

Liljegren reminds me of Weegar, both in terms of play style and trajectory. He's going to be good, but they have to stay with him.
