Oh damn, I didn't realize that Tampa is still right on our heels. Even though we are 6-3-1 in last 10 and they are only 4-4-2. Jeez, how is that possible? We do have 2 games in hand on them, however.

Playoffs start soon. Just about time for Freddy to strain something.
I'm looking for a big effort tonight. Got to be up for the better eastern teams.

The points system is messed up

It's been set up so teams find it difficult to separate from each other, that's why it's so hard to get back into the playoff race if you struggle for the first 25-33% of the season

I wouldn't say I'm a purist overall but one game you award 3 points and a bunch of other games teams only get 2. It just really screws the standings. Teams that have a bunch of OT losses can get in over a team with more wins... its a possibility anyway.

If you made regulation wins 3 points it would fix it maybe. A lot of people may also hate that but you'd be trying a lot harder in regulation to close it out.

They could just remove the loser pt.

I remember the evolution of all this.

Without going through it all, the addition of the SO, was to ensure there is a winner. The extra point no longer made sense once the SO was added.

You win the game or you lose. That's it. There should be no incentive to taking it to OT or a SO, unless you think your team can win easier that way.

True enough. If they made it a 10 minute OT they'd probably rarely have a shoot out too.

Otherwise might as well just go back to ties lol. I hate shoot outs.
 
We all know when we pit ourselves agianst the top tier teams that OUR team most likely steps up

Who cares right now if Tampa is stapeld for our playoff bout.

Time for our team to reach deep, and out perform the Canes tonight!

Keefe is acting like a playoff berth is secured. It's not. If this continues, pretty soon we'll lose home ice to Tampa (look at the home/road splits, it matters) and we're a 5 game skid away from being in the last WC spot, or worse.

They should get rid of points altogether and just count wins and losses, like in baseball. A win is a win. A loss is a loss.
