So, they have to fix the PP and PK before Monday, of which the PK has been dysfunctional all season, and the PP has faded to dust over the final third, but was never clutch to begin with. Riiiight.

If Nylander is ready, who sits? As much as I liked him (in general), Robertson for me.

Do you change any of the D? I say no, and see what you get from that group in a second game.

I probably start Samsonov again too... Woll is not better, and if you sit him, he is done for the series (mentally).

Edit: Also, laughing at the people saying it is only game 1, as if we haven't watched this same shit for 8 years lol

When killing penalty last night he doodled at the Bruins line, tried to be fancy, failed to get puck deep and gave up odd man rush on the pk. JT didnt have too many dangerous scoring chances last night

Please post videos of the high danger chances which were created by marner? Im sure the only chances that come up are the 4 on 3 ones which Tavares trying to finish from right in front of the net made it look like a dangerous chance. If you cant make a cross ice pass on a 4 on 3 then you are beyond useless.

Expected Goals had the leafs out play the bruins lool. Horrible stat/model. The leafs had a few chances early in the game which were dangerous but after the 4 on 3 didnt get much from the top 2 lines. 3rd period boston waa up big, cruised and held the lead to close out the game.

Marner wasnt a shooting threat, he shot point shots again which were easily cleared away by the bruins. He didmt get anything from the slot himself, his passing wasnt generating high looks 5v5.

He had a piss poor game. Using this expected stats model to try and pretend he did his job shows the biggest problem with fans here.

They will defend players who underperformed clearly by the meagerest of means to not accept that their takes/biases are questionable

This is likely the end of Keefe’s tenure in Toronto. Safe to say that Shanahan is likely out as well.

The new management is going to have to put goaltending as a number one priority. Even if you have to trade Marner to get a starting goalie, then you do it. It is absolutely embarrassing for the city of Toronto. Samsonov and Woll are just awful.

67, you are blind to the reality that Mitchy rarely steps up when stepping up is needed. He wants to be special, then be special. Keon was, Clark was, Salming was, Gilmore was, Sittler was, Marner is not. Yapping to the press after is not leading.

Why don't you post all Marners created shots and show the ones that weren't high danger to prove your point? Who the f*** has game footage of every play.
Expected goals are a function of shot frequency and danger. If you want to disprove it, do your own work.

Tehy will quote a bunch of stats and then say We should have won. Just a reminder, Samsonov is 5 and 10 in the playoffs. Washington dumped him and went on to win the cup. Put marner in net.

My biggest gripe with the whole analytics fascination, there's a number out there that can show something positive, but anyone who watches sports know that a lot of times it doesn't meet the eye or sniff test.

You cant claim expected goals are the be all and end all stat when multiple people watching the game didnt see marner having a strong game

Your relying on a stat/model that has predicted the leafs often win out series yet they almost always have ended up losing.

Marner had 2 SOG. Neither of his individual shots were good chances/chances that could beat a goalie. He was passive in shooting and looking to score.

In the 1st period marner had 1 chance he created. It was a knies chance from high slot with no traffic. A decent look but nothing to crazy

In the 2nd period - he had 2 chances he was a passer on on the 4 on 3. Neither was a super clean look and he and the leafs PP kept overpassing instead of looking for a shot.

3rd period - I think he has a shot from the pt which was tipped down/stopped by goalie and rebound cleared by boston

Watch any highlight video from the game. Nothing from Marner or JT looks remotely dangerous and capable of beating Swayman.

JT shot padded by taking dumb shots that had little chance of beating Swayman (had a tip "shot" in the 1st from a marner pass that didnt get off the ground and swayman redirected to the corner, and had a slap shot from far out trying to beat a goalie with his crappy shot)

There were no dangerous odd man rushes from these two or the team really outside of Jarnkroks once shot.

Very little high low action, little sustained offe sive cycle shifs. No clean slot/cross ice shots at 5v5

It was a game I would expect Max Domi to have. Not Marner
