As I pointed out the other night vs Colorado, it's not simply Tavares, it's the Big 4 in general.
Somehow, the combination of Matthews, Tavares, Marner and Nylander make 13 million dollars more against the cap than Mackinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog and Kadri. Soak that in. 13 million dollars. That's an top level D-man + an upgrade on Justin Holl + another top 9 forward at the deadline.
