I guess Snow wanted to ice a more competitive AHL team to try and cope with the Marlies this season. And they gave us a pretty good NHL'er in the process.

Peresinni is not much better than Gibson, if better at all.

The rest I agree with.

Peresinni appeared on the OHL 1st All-Star team along with Marner and coach Keefe. ;)

Awesome trade. Love Grabner, guy is a legit top 9er. Just needed a change of scenery.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up potting 20+ goals

Ekland with some huge rumours about Bozak (haha)

For a while there all went very quiet in Toronto, but today the rumors surrounding Tyler Bozak have once again surfaced with a source telling me he would put it at "60/40 Bozek is elsewhere by October 1." The teams interested are Carolina, NJ, Arizona, and the LA Kings (who are getting some much needed Cap relief.)

The asking price is a second and third...

Stay tuned Toronto...this is only the beginning...

HUGE.....I tells ya.....HUGE

(I like the 60/40 part....he's setting himself up to look less silly when nothing happens)

So Bozak who did not fetch a 2nd over the summer...is now worth a 2nd and a 3rd...gotcha Eklund

It was a good move, allows flexibility and we aren't parting with anything of consequence. I'd also much rather Bibeau as the #1 on the Marlies anyway as I think he has serious NHL upside, and Gibson would of kept Sparks out.

Grabner also has the potential to Lupul away half the year, in addition to Lupul himself that could open up a couple of spot which could allow guys like Brown and Leipsic some NHL action.

Taylor Beck didn't last long in a Leafs uniform did he? Went from ridding Burke obtained assets to Dubas obtained assets all in one summer.

I think we should be prepared this team is going to look more like a Lou Lamoriello team as the year progresses.

Fraser and Grabner are just appetizers.

think the idea was to hopefully turn grabner into a 2nd or 3rd round pick at the deadline, so do you trade these prospects for a 2nd or 3rd rounder? maybe

More then a change of scenery, Grabner needs to stay healthy. The last two yrs have been injury filled.
He is fun to watch when healthy and you can tell from his tweeting with teammates that he is popular with teammates.

Best of luck to Grabs( except in isles/leaf games ;) )

Grabner's a pending UFA. Another guy potentially to be flipped for picks if he regains his form, along with most of the PTO's we now have contract spots for. Just more free deadline picks is how I view this.

Seems like this is the way of the new management. If they don't see good odds of a young player making the nhl, they recoup assets asap or unload the contract space to sign new young players that they see more potential in. They also get the quality one year contract player that can be used to sell for more assets. Great philosophy.

Christ are you still on about this? It's not like Dubas has a slew of guys he's brought in for Lamoriello yo even get rid of, and the "de-Burkanizing" of this team as Mess calls it is still going, so it's not like it's stopped and we're getting rid of Dubas acquired guys, not that there's many of them at all.

It was one guy the Leafs traded away that Dubas apparently brought in. Wow such a big dramatic twist of events.

Want your opinion on this - if he can get steady top 6-9 minutes, and stay healthy, do you see him potting 20 and being worth a 2nd or 3rd at the deadline?

Well, isn't it nice to read some Leafs news.

Clearing out dead contracts for a cap dump.

Once season starts they can put Horton on LTIR for cap purposes if they want to pick up more of these dumps for assets.

Thought Nilsson had some potential in him, but the Leafs raided the KHL for a couple assets that more than fill in for the players who had no future.

Leafs want a smart, quick team going forward, so if you can't skate or think or do either ...

Can we dump Donaghey too?

I believe Brouillard WAS invited.

Injury worse then we thought?

He hasn't been that great in some time now. His main asset is his speed, but he's been slowed down a bit by groin injuries. He doesn't have great hands, so although his speed may lead to breakaways he's not that good at actually finishing them. He's quite useful on the PK because the threat of a shorthanded breakaway can help to keep the other team somewhat honest, and even if he's not that great a finisher if you give him too many breakaway opportunities he will end up scoring on some of them.

Islanders had too many forwards, so someone had to be moved.

Honestly the only one in disappointed in seeing go and a bit surprised on value is fine

Other then that, wow so many players going the other way

I am calling it as I see it. This team has done precisely what I thought it would when most were saying this team was not intent on winning for years. It was going to be pain and slow rebuilding. That featured an awful NHL hockey team.

Grabner is just the latest proof, that Babcock and Lou. And now probably Shanny are seeing this team is not as far away as it was sold it was. We will see, but I suspect we are in just the infancy of player moves that Lou is no doubt leading.

And yes, Dubas has not been heard from since his hiring. I know who is running the show now.
