I'd be fine with Woll and Jones if we use Sammys and Klingers cap space to get better defence. If Woll plays like he did before injury he's solid enough to be #1 and Jones is dependable enough to not over play Woll. Jones doesn't need "mental health" breaks like Campbell and Samsonov do when their playing like shit.

Imo the team isn't winning anything with this defence, so if you don't address that then it might not matter what goalie your putting out there.

Woll is 25 and every time he has been asked to be the guy in Toronto so far, he has stepped up.

What will ruin him? The spotlight? He came in and looked great in the playoffs.

I am not sure I see the risk in playing him.

The goalie market is pretty bad. More than half the league has less than a .910 save percentage with goalies who played at least 15 games. It's hard to pay a premium. You're basically looking at slight upgrades without breaking the bank on assets.

This is no surprise, Samsonov has been awful. Woll has been great but he is injured. Jones has potential to fill the void until Woll returns.

Regardless of standings, the Leafs have a lot of holes in their lineup. Doubt they can fix all and if they try they’ll mortgage the future for rentals and may not even go far in the playoffs.

Leafs need:
Top D partner for Rielly who doesn’t necessarily need to be a top 2 but a defensive first physical guy. Schenn was great.
Top 4 D man with size who can handle a forecheck.
Number 3 Center.
Starting goalie.
If I’m being picky I’d say Brodie and Bertuzzi need to be upgraded, especially if Bertuzzi continues to play in the top 6.

And they need to figure out the Nylander situation.

Goalie market really blows right now. I’d draft at least 1 goalie in every draft. Not having a legit goalie can really sink a solid team with high aspirations.

We don't actually know that. He could well have been valued as a guy to keep from the start of the season.

And while his value can't be that huge, his recent starts have been pretty good, and I expect some teams would actively want him. This doesn't give him great value... but clearly more than earlier this season.

I figure his value has gone from maybe a 5th with luck, to a fourth rounder (maybe late 3d?) thanks to some steady play.

I mean this just shows the delusion. Markstrom might be worth a 3rd round pick. Primeau might be worth a waiver claim fee. It's like Flames fans who think we are getting a 2nd for Vladar.

crazy to think how much the goalie market changed in 6 months. seems like good goalies were available all summer now there is a bunch of teams that look like they need some help in net.

would not surprise me if Trev, attempts to get these two guys and IMO would certainly improve the leafs chances of advancing in the playoffs further than they have in the recent past
