Cooper is rattled, you could see it by his facial expressions and body language in the game last night.
This literally is a competition. He didn't have to make it a competition. Its the opposite of the path he usually takes. He usually would say "Matthews Tavares and ROR are ALL WORLD players, they don't back down, and will not go down easy" in an effort to draw the attention away from his players and onto ours. Instead he put all the pressure solely on his own players. Very different approach from him. He didn't have to bring his players into it AT ALL.
He did not make any mistakes trying crazy passes which helped da team .. and he did grind out a game which was good too .. he has great skill and you saw it in da screen shot which Vasi did not see .. that is what i thought he could do to help team and he did that .. but he did not change da gameAgree to disagree. Getting the first goal last night after the game 1 debacle was crucial. Before the game was one minute old, Marner drew a penalty and scored on the ensuing PP. That set the tone for the rest of the game and for that alone I make him my 1st star selection and he looked pretty good to me the rest of the game as well.
Its not the approach he usually takes. But it still seems to be working in deferring attention away from his goon squad getting riled up by fans lol! This literally is a competition.
Since when is backing your own players a bad thing?
It doesnt add any pressure, theres no downside to saying you believe in your guys.
Basically backing up his boys and cooper is an excellent coach at playing things up.What exactly is he supposed to say?
"Yeah their guys are better than ours"? Lol
I remember lots of people on here ripping on how bad Draisaitl is…..

I don't know, didn't listen to him. I tend to ignore press conferences.I mean there are a lot of ways to dance around that question. He typically does handle questions like that with more tact then that.
LOL. He drew the penalty, then scored on the PP in the first minute of the game. The first goal is always super important, but especially so last night so him engineering that 1st goal is the very definition of someone changing the game.He did not make any mistakes trying crazy passes which helped da team .. and he did grind out a game which was good too .. he has great skill and you saw it in da screen shot which Vasi did not see .. that is what i thought he could do to help team and he did that .. but he did not change da game
again watch it live from good seats where you see entire ice and it was completely obvious that Rielly tilted that game .. whatever anyone says about him and I certainly have been critical for his defensive errors .. but people need to man up and when you see a guy carry da team on his back you have to give him his dues .. yes it was unexpected but Reilly STILL HAS HIS WHEELS and he opened up Tampa for skilled guys to score .. that was playoff speed which kills
They need to remember what they are capable of and not expect it will just get done.I saw a lot of doom and gloom after game 1, expecting a sweep etc
Hopefully after seeing last night people remember what this team is capable of. Its just the consistency that always remains an issue. Hopefully that changes this year.
Totally agree BrothaI don't know, didn't listen to him. I tend to ignore press conferences.
I find a lot of times things are taken out of context
You are looking at points my friend and I should probably reword that statement in bold yes he made 1 play which helped team for sure and I agree 1st one is most important .. but I am looking at who tilts ice in our favour every shift over a game .. I can't remember 1 shift where he did not tilt da ice .. that is what a #1 D does he tilts da ice in favour of his team almost every shift he plays .. i counted 10 plays where he opened up Tampa and took them out of their system 3 of which directly related to goals for .. and he did it using SPEED .. i also thought Jankrok was very good too and again he opened up Tampa with SPEED .. SPEED creates and kills.. and everyone else grinded well which is imperative too in playoff hockey as you ain't gonna score 7 a gameLOL. He drew the penalty, then scored on the PP in the first minute of the game. The first goal is always super important, but especially so last night so him engineering that 1st goal is the very definition of someone changing the game.
Saying Marner did nothing to change the game is crazy talk. LOL again.
I watched it. It isn't taken out of context he stormed out of the press conference right after answering the question.I don't know, didn't listen to him. I tend to ignore press conferences.

Great bounce back win for the boys. So many things to like about that game TBH. Great start, sustained O-Zone time, Vintage Mo, Knies was outstanding, Sammy was kicking, Mitch was dealing, Schenner, Holl and Gio dropping the mits, boys laying out to block shots, El Cap with the hatty.....I literally could go on and on about the positives.
The obvious standouts were JT, Mitch and Mo. Our big boys needed to play big and they exceeded expectations on the night.
But there were a couple depth players who showed up in a massive way yesterday that deserve major love.
Knies - The kid was all over the puck yesterday. He was making his own luck. His anticipation was outstanding and his ability to force turnovers was truly a sight to be seen. This kid is going to be a huge player for us. I can't wait to see what the future brings him if the present looks this good already.
Acciari - This guy is such a gamer. The big adds this year were ROR, McCabe and even Lafferty to a degree. But Acciari has been every bit as impactful in his role. This guy needs to be resigned this summer. Exactly the player we need
Holl - A couple massive shot blocks on the PK early on in the game when it was still 1-0. Steady all night. Steps up and takes a beating at the end from Perry. Sure he got his lunch fead to him, but he showed up. Thats the battle and compete you want to see
Schenn - Laying the body all night. Big time fight against Jennault at the end. You knew TB was gunna try and drag this game into the mud in the 3rd. Schenner stepped up and answered the bell in a big way.
Gio - 39 f***ing years old.....He give up 20lbs, 2 inches, and 7 years to Bogo and not only did he answer the bell, he probably got the best of him. Nails
Lafferty/Kampf/ZAR - Huge bounce back game for that trio. They were absolute dogs tonight. Scoring the 5th goal to really put the game out of reach against the TB top line. I know Sheldon recieved a lot of criticism on his usage of this line on the 1st GA in game-1, but this was the effort we had grown accustomed to for the last little while with this group. Hell of a game for them, and a major positive for us to see them back in form. You need 4 lines to win it all, and they were fantastic.
All the positives aside, this TB team is going to be PISSSSSSSED come game 3. It's going to be really hard to match that intensity if I am being honest. As impressive of a win as yesterday was, that was exactly the outcome that should have happened given their injuries on defense. Its great that we stepped up, but we need to get our minds right for game 3 ASAP. We will be getting a much better TB team on Saturday. They don't need to look far to find motivation. They are furious about how game 2 went. If we don't start on time, we will get our faces caved in. As much as we needed to burn the tapes on game 1, we need to burn the tapes on game 2 even more.
GO LEAFS GO!!!!!
Actually, it was Hay Day !!!Imagine having these seats and playing Farmville all night
I got it!Yo someone post that gif of Maroon leaning through the glass to talk to a fan please I can't find it and I saved it improperly last night.
I swear to god it looked like his face was twitching when the camera zoomed in on him when the penalty box/fan shenanigans were going onCooper is rattled, you could see it by his facial expressions and body language in the game last night.
Drunken analysis again?Go with what your eyes tell you .. screw all da stupid stats which are meaningless .. everyone I know saw it same way Rielly was BY FAR best man on ice .. he tilted that game with support from Schenn .. Matty and Mitch were better last night but bottom line did not influence that game either way .. they are just too slow on footspeed
Oh ya. I am not going to lie, I am not sure that is a good thing though lol. I think the one thing that really stood out to me last night from TB that I just haven't seen from our group is that look of distaste when they get embarrassed like that.Cooper is rattled, you could see it by his facial expressions and body language in the game last night.
Best post of this thread! The core was on the line and they stepped up, impressive performance. Now don't take your foot off the gas and do it again
I've been to two leafs playoff games, game 1 last year and game 2 this year. We've outscored the opposition 12-2 in those games
Please fund me to go to Tampa @Leafs
