Tonight I was reminded of what a good player Vincent Damphousse was. Also reminded how lucky we are to have Matthews.

I would've preferred another complete 60 minute game, but I love that we have the talent to win games when we push for only 10 minutes.

Go Leafs Go!

I feel for Canucks fans - they had such high hopes after last year, and now to watch this mess instead...oof.

If they figure Pettersson > Matthews and Marner, you can take some enjoyment in them losing their minds over us.

A shame we traded Vinny for aging players to "Win now".
That's exactly why the "Trade Nylander, Trade Marner crowd was INSANE.

Embarrassing effort for the Buds tonight. Yea, it's nice to get a win against a joke of an NHL team like the Canucks but against any half decent team, we're not winning that game. I hope they can figure it out for the HvH against the Habs.

I really do hope Auston keeps the last two series in his memory bank. Stay here in TO with Marner where playing is fun, or possibly end up like McDavid or a sadsack Van Cansucks team?

I'm not trying to be a negative nancy but I think we're past the stage of "yay! we won the game!" and moving into the "I expect this to be a comfortable win and the boys should provide a stable effort". Most of our kids are grownups and leaders on this team now. We're not a young team and I feel like if we're going to compete for a cup in the near future, we need to have more consistency and effort. I understand that Keefe's blender was out with 11 forwards and that probably didn't help the players gel but we had 5 shots more than halfway through the game. And that simply is not good enough for a team that's this good.

I want to beat the Habs/Jets/Flames/etc consistently. I want our boys to come out and assert their dominance and show the division who the big dogs are. We were those teams getting bullied previously by our big dogs (Boston and Tampa), now it's our turn to be the Tampa/ Boston of this division. Don't let your foot off the gas. Period.

I think in previous years we find a way to lose the game or let the bottom fall out entirely. Good team found a way to win tonight.

I just don't want to see a game like that the next little while.

Maturity test next game. Do they recognize the fact that was a low effort game that will be a loss against a good opponent or do they come out next game pushing each other off a crap effort understanding you can’t rest on that win, that win was your rest.

They were out shot 20-5 at one point and had 7 shots through 2 periods none of what you said is true

Maybe you didn't understand what I meant because it absolutely is true that there was the odd game where the Leafs outshot the opposition by a wide margin and lost over the decade of terrible leaf teams, which is what this terrible Canuck team did today.

Ha yup - Mo's numbers ticking up as the qoc comes down:

It's almost like playing against better competition makes it harder to put up good defensive numbers...

Kind of the nature of being a #1, and it should get better against better competition as he and Brodie become more familiar with each other. He's looked a lot better at both ends the past few games.

It's nice to finally have a club that can find a way to win. Much more resilient bunch this season, in previous years we'd cripple at the sight of adversity. We're also scoring the first goal almost every game, that's how you win.
