People need to stop saying this... teams rarely have a "complete 60 minutes" as you're referring to.

Teams just don't dominate for 60 minutes very often.. Leafs are 10-2-1 and that 5-1 win the other night was the only "complete 60" this season.

Show me a team that consistently does it and I'll believe you but its not how hockey works. Energy and momentum swing all game. The great teams don't just dominate 60 minutes they just know how to weather the storm. That's the difference.

No one was asking to dominate for 60 minutes. Just not get dominated for 40 minutes against a bottom dwelling team.

We had 7 shots through 40 minutes. How many even teams manage that feat?

We flipped the switch which is nice to see, but let's play a full 60 next time.

Freddy played amazing

No business winning this game but we will take it. Skill can’t be taught. Freddie stood on his head. Take it and move on.

I hope Mikheyev pots one soon. Guy is due!

You know you're a truly elite team when you can play like garbage and still come away with that win.

Not surprising that we played a bit of a stinker there. Stomped a weak opponent two in a row, so they came out with a bit of fire and we came out expecting to win. Whoever gave the 2nd intermission speech did a good job because we played the third period hard and they rolled over and died.

Big shout out to Rielly who has been utterly insane the past few games. He and Brodie were each around 80 xGF% tonight.

Canucks stopped playing in the third.
Say what you want about our first two periods, the Leafs turned it on when it mattered and won.
They didn't stop playing. It's just Leafs were asleep for two periods. Then they turned it on and that was the game. I thought Leafs started to play much faster right from the start of the third frame. Chance after chance. No bounty for Van today. Try with Mtl.

I wasn't just talking about this game.. after every game there's a bunch of comments saying "play a full 60!!"

Tonight they just didn't look focused and weren't super engaged. Easy to do after smashing the same team twice in a row.

Teams get dominated for stretches against any competition. It's going to happen. We can't repeat it on Wednesday.

When did this team learn to protect a lead? The last two minutes the wall they built between the perimeter and the net was impressive. Yes, Van moved the puck around the outside, but couldn't penetrate. Leafs holding their position, fronting three players to the puck while having the back side covered, disciplined, effective, who the f*ck are these guys? :thumbu: I'll take more of that structure, please.
Think they may have picked up a few things from the jackets series painful as it was

This game was never in jeopardy, the Leafs just wanted to give Vancouver a chance for 50 minutes. lol jk piss off trolls

I don't feel like the Leafs played as poorly as the shot totals suggested. Just seemed like they could not have anything clean working for them (puck bouncing everywhere, pucks bouncing off of sticks, etc.). They were skating and trying to generate opportunities it just was like there was a wall that they hit. Vancouver came out and performed well, but the Leafs overcame it and won.

They haven't done that a lot in recent years, even when they have been playing well.
