I was mostly joking, but I don't think xGF accurately represents our play. We defer so many HD chances that we undermine our xGF to a large extent, but we make it up on our high skill offense and its lights out shooting % when we actually take our shots.

I agree to some extent but the Leafs have dangerous shooters as well and had a number of great looks tonight mostly due to turn overs on our part.

Also I think that our luck wont hold forever if we continue to largely be a perimeter shooting team with a couple high end chances. Look no further then OT where we had probably 6 grade A chances but didn't cash on any of them despite having great shooting talent.

It feels so good to beat the Leafs!

Looks like the secret weapon for a GDT involving the Leafs is more of The Spoons!

His possession numbers were very bad, by far the worst on the team tonight.
I didn't think he was great, he made one really slick breakout pass but I'm still not seeing the wunderkind he's been made out to be.

Oh well, it's only game 2 and according to him he needs like 20 mins a night to be effective. :sarcasm:

Noticed it last time with the Leafs, but man they're trying to go for the five hole on Helle as much as possible.

I don't know if Laine is trying to get open or what but his positioning whenever he's the high forward in the o-zone is a bit suspect, he tends to hang right by the blue line parallel to the two D. Not sure if that's going to result in chances for us.

Sheif and KC work the boards and Laine should be hanging back - but I get your point - he has to creep in a little lower to be effective.
The pass, if it gets there, has to be a short one when the passer is trying to work the puck out off the walls.
He'll figure it out.

Maurice wants his F3 to stay higher in the zone this year due to the defense. Its in situations like this where I think our players need to have the green light to creep in when the situation calls for it.

I don't believe Mo is telling him to hang back at the blue line - I don't see a forward hanging back like that on other lines.
Might be a case of over doing it - someone should be in the shooting position but this is too far even for Laine - and it's hard to hit a player with a pass when they are that far back.
If there's something out there that supports what you are saying, I'd like to see (or hear) it - but hanging around back there is not something a coach would ask from his sniper.

I've seen other forwards do it but have no frames handy to back it up. Perrault was quite often there today albiet he was about 5 feet further in then Laine was, so maybe he is over doing it a bit but it is a coaching strategy to keep the F3 fairly high in the zone.

Nice to get decent goaltending this game. Andersen also stole that game for the Leafs.

Great win for the Jets!

Well, he stole 1 pt. Couldn't get the 2nd one.

What a game! A real heartstopper. I'm going to need my own AED if they keep this up. How we didn't get the EN goal to put it away, I will never know. And Andersen stole it 3 times in OT.

Laffs offense is very dangerous, but our shooters outshot their shooters tonight. In their barn. :thumbu:

Sloppy game, but the Jets got stronger and stronger as the game progressed and deserved the win.

Just a few comments...

Worst game I've seen Perreault this season. Just bad play after bad play with the puck, and nothing else.

Big game from Poolman. He was a force.

Morrissey was really disappointing again. Passive and ineffective without the puck. His play in OT was awful. Missed the net on two top chances and floated a soft writer as the net from the blue line on another. Who does that in OT, even with a bit of traffic? This would be a much better team of we had Morrissey playing like the past two seasons.

Niku had some good moments, but also showed his limitations defensively.

Loved Appleton tonight. Fast and tenacious. Roslovic was good, too.
