Post-Game Talk: Leafs smoke Flames 6-2

The division is still right there for them.

Florida doesn't play again until the 20th so If Toronto beats Colorado Wednesday they will be tied for the division lead.

Florida and Toronto play on the 20th and the 22nd.

Then after the 23rd Florida doesn't play again until the 28.

The Leafs upcoming schedule is Colorado, NYR, Nashville Philadelphia LA, SJ Ducks.

If they get hot they'll take over the division juse because of the gaps in Florida schedule.

This is a BIG opportunity for them thid next 7 games I forgot Philadelphia but the point still stands.
Like I said, 10 days from now the Leafs will be well up on Florida. Barring the unexpected, it will be Ottawa in the first round.

They have some shit teams coming up on the schedule (NSH, PHI, SJ, ANA). Hopefully they'll bring bring the kind of effort they brought tonight to those games. NYR is at about CGY's level.

Let's see if they're serious or if they just got pissed off with all the (deserved) criticism and brought their a-Game for one game.
Some of those teams will bring an effort and play better than Calgary did tonight. The Leafs did nothing different in this game that they haven’t done in the past two weeks, however they had more room tonight.

Seriously? I thought they were a much quicker team tonight and won way more battles as a result.

To be on the safe side I have planned the parade and also planned a tear down.

Not sure which is more embarrassing - - the bandwagon jumpers chanting “we want Florida” after winning the first round, or the bridge jumper who want to blow up the most talented team Toronto has had in over 50 years.

Carlo looks the perfect add to our D corp. Dude is efficient, reads well, great long stick, knows where home is out front and he's been a good add on the PK. Having him in the top 4 rounds out everyone where they should be, I'm pretty impressed with how steady he is back there.

In terms of play, Rielly is, what, the fifth best defenseman on the team now?

I don't expect him to play like he did in the '23 playoffs or anything, but if he can just be a solid top four defender down the stretch and into the playoffs, he has enough support now that he doesn't need to carry the defense.

Great game. Mediocre opponent, but great game by Domi and that third line. Brought the energy. I was proposing to trade Domi, glad to see him starting to pick up his play. We need him playing like this and hopefully Laughton can pick on this energy too.

I didn't catch it all but from what I saw a much-needed solid performance and what looked like an almost-60 minute effort. A rarity for this team.

And a lesson to other teams playing Toronto: A passive PK against the Leafs - giving Mitch, AM & Willie time & space - is never a good idea. Not sure what the Flames were thinking?

Matthews shot is still gone, and his hands are still sloppy, despite the two goals. He can't handle passes and his one timer is gone.

He needs to get it fixed ASAP after this season is over.

Surgery for sure coming up

All I’m going to say is, an injured AM34 is still going to pace 40g per season. That is insane. But some on this board claim he is worthless and we should get rid of him. Even more insane.

Just remember some on this board complained when he scored 60. There is no requirement to actually be a fan of the team to post on the board or even have a clue about hockey in general.

It's not pretty but I think they have to stick with the Domi-Robertson Tandem in the bottom 6. That's the only "depth scoring" this team has been getting lately

We need offense in the playoffs, so I agree. Maybe give them Marner and see what else they can do, with a responsible winger. But I like that pairing honestly.
