I think this guy has the ability to push Samsonov and he has the pedigree. Let's hope he is Belfour jr. We haven't had good goaltending since we threw Rask to Boston.

Good for him but Dubas signed him for more than Kallgren.Do they both have to clear waivers if they are sent down ?

I like what Petruzzelli brings. It's probably too early for him but I want to see him in the show for a few starts. I've watched some of his marlies tape and I'm a fan.

Keith Petruzzelli, who is 6-0-0 with a .922 save percentage with the Toronto Marlies this season, has signed an NHL deal. The 23-year-old will dress as Toronto's back-up goalie on Sunday.

"He's a guy who was a third-round pick in the NHL and doesn't get signed, but ultimately dominates college hockey," Keefe said. "Our organization identified him as a guy to give an opportunity to, to continue to work with and develop. He was dominant in the ECHL last season. He's been dominant in the AHL to start this season. It's not a guy who's come in completely out of nowhere. Certainly, his signing is probably expedited given our situation, but he's a guy that our organization has believed in and, frankly, the way it was going his signing was somewhat inevitable."

The Quinnipiac University product, who was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2017, has never played in the NHL.

"To have him in here is a real nice story for a guy that's just continued to work and has responded to an organization believing in him," Keefe continued. "Happy that it's worked out this way for him."

The 6-foot-5, 185-pounder has 11 American Hockey League games on his resume dating back to last season.

I know there's a decent chance he doesn't see NHL ice before one of Murray or Samsonov is back, but I hope he gets at least one game in.

Sort of an odd career path but he has potential.

The silver lining to this march from the Leafs net to the IR is that we get to see if we have any gems waiting in the wings

I recall @Stephen being high on this guy quite a long time ago and i have been paying attention to him since

Not sure if that was me... I liked that we grabbed him from the Wings system but I think my only viewing of him was in camp this past training camp. Curious to see him in action though.

Easy out Boston left it up to the leafs to pick. Both had the same ceiling one was also Canadain the next goalie of Team Canada teams. Which would get any GM fired if they panned out. He also was the one with the temper or passion. Depending how you see, it at the time.

But hopefully more importantly he is a good one.

Petruzzelli started one of the pre-season games against Detroit or Ottawa right? I don't remember him looking that good but maybe he's found a comfort level. But mostly hope Samsonov isn't out for too long.
looks good or looks bad doesn’t matter at this point because he is all they got

Actually this happens more than you think in other scenarios.

For example sometimes college players will turn down an elc to play a 4th college year in part to hit free agency and sign where they like. And in those instances the player doesn't get paid anything (just tuition and room and board coverage)

This really isn't any different than that.
plus lady’s and wobbly pops

Don't think I've ever said I was overly high on him. I think I only saw him in 1 or 2 games last year and what we saw this year in rookie camp/preseason. He's a guy that has pedigree and has been successful at every level though. And he's 6'5 which is nice.
