I don't get this one. No way he's playing on the Marlies. Basically ensures the Leafs run 7D on the roster full time, without figuring out Sandin, 8 if they do keep Sandin/Holl.
As has been suggested, this strongly suggests Holl will be shipped out and we can shift his $ to another forward. I really hope that proves to be the case.

Jordie Benn provides good depth as a 7th defenceman, that is physical and blocks a lot of shots. He won't be a regular in the lineup, but is serviceable on the bottom pair when needed. He's also signed for league minimum. I don't understand why some people hate this so much, other than the fact that all they do is whine about everything.

I don't feel like we are moving for the right people.
It's a depth signing who is big, plays physical, and blocks shots... What's not to like about the signing...
If people still can't see that a trade(s) are coming then you guy's are slow. Look for either Muzzin/Holl/Sandin to get moved, wouldn't be surprised if two of those names are moved.

Toughness and attitude. I like it. He's really not even that far off from Chiarot if Im being honest.

Only wish he was Right Handed. I think he can play off-side though.

Simply a veteran insulation for younger defenders who takes the brunt of physical duties like boxing players out, blocking shots stopping cycles, etc. Will he do it well? That's another story but being a depth guy on a possession focused team, he shouldn't be too exposed. Plus it's always good to have a guy that can cover you whenever you pinch, as he did for Stretcher

Moving two of those names promotes either of Mete or Benn to being a lineup fixture. That might be too great of a step. Moving one defender could make sense if doing so directly or indirectly involves an incoming and worthwhile upgrade at forward.

Not if you move Muzzin or Sandin for another defender, trade Holl for picks and sign Subban it doesn't.

Dubas said he would add a physical D man to offset Boosh leaving.

Not sure much left in the tank for the 35 year old, he hasn’t stuck in a lineup for years. Another unimaginative warm body that comes as cheap as they can.

Beats having Boosh putting himself out of position 10 times a game when he pulls up and/or mistimes hits and gets caught flat-footed. That basically neutered Rielly's effectiveness.

He was rarely out of position, that was the point, his breakout pass was the Achilles, nice “analysis”. He played the entire series against TB that you guys can’t stop talking about too. Guarantee this guy won’t. Another net negative.

It’s funny how we can’t accept you dont get good quality at the Dollar Store, which is where we are cap wise. We’re bargain basement hunting.

There’s a reason he’s available for league minimum and Boosh signed for 2.75.

He was very often way out of position after stepping up for an attempted hit, or even if he did hit. "Nice analysis" yourself.

He was decent in the regular season and exposed vs TB in the playoffs.

If he was really any good, they would have kept him.

Buffalo is stupid, we know.

We couldn’t afford to keep him, come on.

He played the entire series against TB, speaks for itself on exposed, considering other available guys sat. Or is the coach an idiot? Hmmm.

Benn was traded for a sixth rounder two years ago, you’re telling me Boosh couldn’t bring back more? Exactly. NET negative, you can spin anything so have at it.

They will defend Lily who was replaced by Holl after game #2 but shit on Lub who played above his pay grade on top pair. Seriously what is the agenda ?? What a KnoB

They can't admit Boosh is good at his job because it would mean having to acknowledge their boy dubas is the main culprit as to why we had to use boosh in a position we know he would fail against tampa.

Nobody said he was perfect, he did throw up some bad passes, but the guy was a beast in front of our net and he seriously won like 80 percent of the board battles and blocked shots, that’s why he was in there and thats why other teams wanted him, it wasn’t just Buffalo obviously at that number.

He’s better than this guy at his stage, I always look at what went out and what is replacing it, so it’s a net negative for me and it Isn’t the only one.

If they wanted Boosh, they could have signed him and traded Holl.

They didn't because he's a 16 minute D-man whose only attribute is hitting - didn't play the PP and seldom on the PK. If he was as good defensively as claimed (and there is very little stats-wise to indicate he was), wouldn't he have been a regular killing penalties?
