A win-win for everyone would be taking out Marchand Saturday night and Reaves facing a hefty suspension so the team doesn't have to play him for a while.

I cannot fathom a scenario where Reaves belongs in the lineup and takes a spot over someone who can skate at an NHL level.

We've seen our guys get hit, cheap shotted, injured, he's done nothing. He's literally useless as an NHL player and Treliving needs to own up to his mistake.

This is what intimidating the other team looks like. Aside from the OT goal, kneeing Nylander, getting in Wolls face all night, throwing elbows and butt ends behind the play, being involved in most of the scrums, face washing our players, and generally doing whatever the hell he wanted, Marchand was completely invisible tonight out of fear. He’s lucky he left the game in one piece.

Marchand is scared of nobody in the league. You guys forget Marchand is elite in his own right. Using Marchand as a metric for Reaves is troll worthy. Reaves could kick his ass and Marchand will get up and go back to being a rat the next shift. He's an amazing asset for the Bruins even though he's on the tail end of his career now.

Reaves experiment is insignificant. It's an easy mistake to overcome and they barely play him as is. Reaves would be an issue for me if they refused to acknowledge he can't be played much and insisted to force it.

You actually went into this game thinking Marchand is going to get into a fistfight with Ryan Reaves?

I guess you started watching hockey in 2017 but all these years of watching Dubas-hockey have clearly been doing you no favors

He said Marchand was lucky they weren’t on the ice together last game, not me. They were this game a few times but it mostly ended with Reaves looking so winded getting dogwalked he was about to throw up.

So you take Reaves' interview (you watch those?) very seriously and then you were expecting what to happen exactly? Their best player to fight a fourth liner? Reaves to mug him?

Please make this clear.

I'm sure Marchand would gladly accept a challenge from Auston Matthews if he wanted to stick up for Timothy Lillegren? Similar to how he went with Steven Stamkos last playoffs?

Hit him, do literally anything besides embarrass yourself 5 minutes a night pretending you’re still an NHL calibre player, I dunno. Probably should stop dressing the worst forward in the NHL let alone sticking him in front of cameras.

Marchand is a world class skater/player and not even our best defencemen are capable of hitting him if they want to legally.

If you want someone to fight their best player, it needs to be one of our best players.

That's how hockey works, but you obviously don't have the faintest idea as evidenced by everything you keep posting.

Go watch another player interview, maybe that'll help.

So just to confirm you agree Reaves serves literally no purpose. I mean other than to give our goalie some extra practice 4v5.

What I've confirmed is you think Ryan Reaves is soley responsible for shutting down Brad Marchand's game.

And not the actual players on the Leafs that are playing the real minutes against him.

You just blamed Ryan Reaves for William Nylander cutting to the middle of the ice and getting checked by Marchand, leading to the game-winning goal....I believe you called it "kneeing"

You're just so out to lunch, bordering on complete delusion.

Treliving's likely to be remembered for trading Tkachuk for Huberdeau. He shouldn't ever have the power to make decisions like that, BUT, he then signed Reaves, a hockey player who cannot skate, a fighter who won't fight, a DJ who plays music no one likes and a good room guy who isn't a good room guy.
WTF is this guy doing in a Leaf jersey? WTF is he doing in the NHL. He makes George Laroque look like Gretzky. Rasmus Sandin had a tussel with Marchant last week after Lily got hurt. But Reaves...haha.what a joke.
We have had guys like Kurt Walker, Forbes Kennedy, Baumgartner, Maloney etc, who could at least play.
If Reaves isn't cut now, then both Treliving and Keefe should be gone, and throw in Shanny to.

This guy is either in the pressbox or he is playing 5-10 mins a night. Last night he only had 2 shifts after the first period. If you aren't going to play him, then get rid of him.

The only problem is, who would take him? Probably would have to pay someone to take him.

The fact that Lafferty was a cap casualty in order to make his contract work is infuriating.

Remember, you are responding to someone who’s screen name is Martin Skoula

Hard to imagine Reaves will be a Leaf for three years. I could see him agree to terminate his contract in the summer and the Leafs "guarantee" the rest of his deal by giving him some kind of community relations position.
Mmmm . . . I could see him agreeing to terminate but I can't imagine full financial compensation from the Leafs.

It's too much money for what he has to offer in a community-relations position.

It's also too much money to camouflage from the NHL's CBA that prevents off-the-table deals of that type.

There's no need to buy him out for 2/3's of his salary over the next four years, all of which would be dead cap. Instead, they could waive him, send him to the AHL and carry just $200,000 per year dead cap for balance of the contract. More money for Reaves, and less dead cap for the Leafs than a straight buyout.

Or maybe he injures himself snowmobiling and ends up on Robidas Island? Unlikely, to say the least.

I think Reaves might well accept a contract termination to avoid a demotion for the rest of his career, but who knows?

In any event, he is no longer an NHL-caliber player and the Leafs need to come to terms with that.

Reeves is a total waste and a bad move by Tre. Treliving is starting to look almost as bad as his predecessor

Yup, fully agree. Reaves needs to be put on waivers. Bury him in the minors. No one is claiming him.
As far as Treliving goes, he is incompetent. Look what he did in Calgary. He is doing the same here. He is going to walk Nylander right to UFA status.

I am afraid Reeves has been reduced to a bench chirper, far too slow for an effective hit on the forecheck at this stage
