I love how Dubas gets all the credit for these guys wanting to play in their hometown their last couple year before retirement, where they were born and where their families live.

Credit to Dubas for bringing him in to begin with, he was great for the team and was an incredibly steadying influence on Liljegren and even made Holl look okay, but getting him to sign a team friendly contract? All that credit goes to Gio.

It works both ways. If we aren't going to give Dubas credit for these home town discounted signings, than he shouldn't be given all the criticism for Marner sabotoging the team with his insane asks.

We're really close if you witness how easily Tampa is destroying top of the divison Panthers and how much difficulty we gave them. In fact, we had that series in Game 6 if not for....I can't forgive yet.

You are saying a mid 20s pick plus a 50pts mid 6 player who can’t really shoot, and an undersized can’t really skate high IQ Dman is worth a physical winger who can play C, who been getting 80plus points and led his team in scoring in the last few seasons.
You take away the physical part and the leading his team in scoring part, that’s Willie. If any other teams fans offer a mid 20s pick in the first round, Kerfoot and Sandin for Willie, would you not think that fan is trolling?
Pls also remember that Nucks already got an undersized Dman who can actually skate in Hughes.

A year ago they immediately signed Simmonds for 2 years. This one is so much better. Looking forward to watching Gio play for the rest of his career. Bet they promised him a job after he retires.

At least Spez clearly cares and gives his all more than 5% of the time unlike Nylander whom I never want to see in a Leaf jersey again.

This is a great deal, even for the extra year because it’s fully buriable (even if extremely unlikely they’d do that to him). I didn’t think Gio was particularly great but he can block shots and still has good positional sense; I definitely didn’t feel like he was a liability in our end or with the puck against TB
