Good character win but a pretty shitty game overall.
A boring Leafs game that ends in a win makes for a great sleep though

I really don't think Florida is a good team. Yes they're in 1st but I'm not blown away when I see them. I think Tampa is a far greater team than them, even Colorado. Like I don't see them dominate puck possession/scoring chances as much as an average #1 team would. I don't know maybe I'm out to lunch here, but I don't think they get out of the first round if they end up against Boston..man i can barely watch these games. The playoffs can't come soon enough. Although we may have awoken the beast that is tampa. They promptly slapped florida the other day.
Good game bro.Just an aside because I like to lurk on other team boards, that was the national ESPN broadcast, not our local one.
This rules analyst from ESPN has had two straight broadcasts where he’s literally dismissed potential tripping call because “it was unintentional”. I don’t know if that says something about ESPN or the level of competence with NHL officiating, but every time that guy pops up he emphasizes intent as being a deciding factor which is silly.
Good game bros, good luck in the ploffs
I'm gonna give them a pass on the passenger part. Minus willy.Too many passengers last night but they dug in and stole the points.
Good to see the goalie play better. I still have very little faith in him but he was fine last night, great in the shootout.
Yeah you'll get that from time to time, was more an observation than a criticism.I'm gonna give them a pass on the passenger part. Minus willy.
You figure they are locked in to play who ever lands 3rd or 2nd and are fighting for home ice only. I don't think it's mailing it in for them but more just not get hurt before playoffs especially when you already have a couple guys getting taken out.
Willy though, wow when he goes along for the ride, he sits in the freaking trunk. There we a few plays where he almost caused goals just avoiding any contact what so ever.
You're ridiculous if you think Nylander stood out as some leader of the passengers last night. There were even instances in the 3rd where it looked like he wanted to run and gun with the top line but matthews and marner just didn't want any of that last night. Was given an assignment from Keefe to win some draws and he went 4-0.I'm gonna give them a pass on the passenger part. Minus willy.

You are the biased one my friend. I'm a fan of Nylander when he is engaged. Run and gun is not being engaged. Being engaged is getting to the dirty spots and preventing goals and capitalizing... it's grinding. You're ridiculous if you think Nylander stood out as some leader of the passengers last night. When his actual line got any chances last night, the puck carrier held and shot. That line didn't cycle or try to make any plays which exacerbated Nylander looking like a passenger.
You're clearly watching the game biased looking for any little thing to call Nylander out for.
Yeah they'll just ignore Nylander lead all forwards in 5v5 xGF despite his line mate being mia and having tunnel vision (Engvall) whenever he did touch the puck last night. Engvall was in full 2021 playoff mode (not a compliment), Kerfoot had one of his worst games of his career and pretty much the whole team except spezza boosh kampf mik and Kallgren took the night off, but let's single out Nylander just because right? The bias against him is strong for real. You're ridiculous if you think Nylander stood out as some leader of the passengers last night. It was a team decision. Watch the play again and you see Marner endorses it too. He signals to Nylander to jump on quick.Yeah you'll get that from time to time, was more an observation than a criticism.
Nylander is what he is, he's not changing.
No idea what he was doing on that 'too many men' call in ot.
If he jumped early to break up the 2 on 1 he did a really poor job of it.
I have no issue with the jumping on early. The issue is taking the penalty and not disrupting the play.It was a team decision. Watch the play again and you see Marner endorses it too. He signals to Nylander to jump on quick.
This is 100% correct. Same thing for Holl right now. He is not the greateat d-man but my word do people ever stretch to find faults. You're ridiculous if you think Nylander stood out as some leader of the passengers last night. 80% of the team took the night off. Your choice to single out ONE guy and not afford him a pass means that one guy needed to have a massively horrible game to stand out. That is complete bullshit yet he's the biased one? Okay then. Carry on.You are the biased one my friend. I'm a fan of Nylander when he is engaged. Run and gun is not being engaged. Being engaged is getting to the dirty spots and preventing goals and capitalizing... it's grinding.
These guys were clearly going through the motions, no one wants injury at the end of the season, but go ahead and watch again, willy missed a few major assignments skating right passed guys instead of getting dirty. There were 3 specific ones that allowed open slot chances that kallgren stopped.
There are two people here I notice, guys who hate willy and guys who love willy. You need to understand when willy is not on his game its because he is not engaged. Coaching and management have pointed it out. He is a phenomenal player when engaged but everyone needs to be real and see that he has two sides.
Just to be clear, willy gets criticism not based on his puck control it's always based on his blown defensive plays. Watch the game again.
I'm not chirping him for that play. I'm chirping him for giving up 3 golden chances cause he skated past caps player with small poke check instead of neutralizing the play. You know... defense. It was a team decision. Watch the play again and you see Marner endorses it too. He signals to Nylander to jump on quick.
i agree with you completely.I really don't think Florida is a good team. Yes they're in 1st but I'm not blown away when I see them. I think Tampa is a far greater team than them, even Colorado. I feel like Florida is a bit of a smoke and mirrors show myself though things could change when healthy Ekblad is part of their equation.

It's like when I see them, I feel like George St. PierreTampa might be more battle hardened but the Panthers are not doing it with smoke and mirrors IMO. They are as legit as the Leafs are if not more with a healthy Ekblad IMO.
It's weird watching the Caps stream where they rave over Nylanders 8 goals in last 10 games prior to the tampa disaster and talk about how dominant Nylander was against the Panthers (literally one game prior to this one) even though no points came from it... then come back to his team board to see him getting smashed in a game the majority of the team looked like ass. But we're the biased ones lol80% of the team took the night off. Your choice to single out ONE guy and not afford him a pass means that one guy needed to have a massively horrible game to stand out. I guess it's the fact you declared everyone gets a pass for last night EXCEPT Nylander that just came off really biased and as someone else said, ridiculous. I don't really see why a Nylander hate party needs to form over last nights game. There were players much worse than him.You are the biased one my friend. I'm a fan of Nylander when he is engaged. Run and gun is not being engaged. Being engaged is getting to the dirty spots and preventing goals and capitalizing... it's grinding.
