I chose to defer to the larger sample size of the season in it’s entirety rather than a stretch of 5L’s in 6 where they were out done by spectacular goaltending in 3 of those losses and played poor in the other 2. They will be fine. This is not the beginning of the end. But if you wanna think of it that way, fill your boots

If you think this team is a contender, I'm happy for you. I personally don't - not without some key roster moves.

This 6 game stretch shouldn't be completely ignored - it counts as much as the other games, and really looks a lot like the Leafs of pervious years.

Everyone knew Tavares skating was not going to age well. Our window with him is 2-3 years max after that his contract will likely become one of the worst in the league.

Nights like this need your captain to show up. A fight or something. Tavares is like a ghost out there.

When was the last game where Tavares really took over this season? Game #3?

I thought we had a few more dominant years out of him, but he fell off a cliff far faster than expected.

Right now I can’t disagree

In a snapshot I'd say it's fair, but not as an overall assessment. Ottawa just got spanked last game and they've come back with a much better effort tonight versus us. They work hard, but generally speaking so does our team, we just don't have it this weekend at all. The break couldn't be coming at a better time. These guys need to reset and I believe they will.

Since arriving we have never been bailed out by a John Tavares game. He was a bad signing when it happened and say what you will about his career points and goals he just always seems to be one step behind.

Our series the past month:

Calgary : Leafs can't score vs backup.
Edmonton: Leafs offense looks ok.
Vancouver: Leafs can't score vs backup.
Winnipeg: Leafs can't score, 1 vs back.
Ottawa: Leafs can't score vs backup.

This vaunted Dubas/Keefe offense totally won't get completely shut down come playoff time.

I wanted hin to sign. I was happy he signed, but. I might have been wrong. So difficult ton construct a Stanley Cup winning team. But to me. Goalies, are number one.

But as many have accurately called, they are voodoo.

So, its probably fun drawing a GM salary. But its probably not fun, living. Lol. Unless you have a Babcock contract. .

I was happy to see we nagged Ian Scott. Poor guy, fooked his groin, hip. Man. Not many come back from that.

Jonathan Quick probably is closest to mind that really came back pretty darn well.

And now. Pasternak from a hip surgery, impressive.

More not's than yes's in that department.

Serious question moving forward, is Thornton going to be a problem moving forward? I’m a bit concerned with all the fawning over him in the room clouding the cold hard “on the ice” calculation. He’s 10-12 minute guy right now.
