You can tell that he is far more inclined to make riskier decisions for the sake of creating offense. I think he'd be best watching some more Adam Fox footage if he wants to see how a guy with enormous hockey IQ with below average physical tools can contribute on both ends.
In his defense, it does look like a systemic choice to have the defense play aggressively to create offense. The Leafs give up a ton of odd man rushes against due to aggressive pinches, no matter who's on the iceYeah, sometimes I feel like he's trying to be an Adam Fox type defenseman without the wheels.
Ritchie-Matthews-MarnerI like all of Brooks, Ho Sang and Semeyonov. I think only one of them makes it unfortunately
Yup I think they’ve played before together in Czech. Also seymonov and Micheyev have played together since they were 6 apparently.Good buddies. Sometimes tends to translate to the ice when you wanna play for the guy next to you. Love to see it. I think Kerfoot or Mikheyev on their wing is the obvious choice. We have a ton of forward depth this year. Ho-sang is pushing for a spot and there's no spots on forward without a trade. Good issue to have I suppose
Us fans have hollered for toughness and leadership. We get it...and then we don't much care for it lol tough crowdPeople should probably just expect Simmonds in the opening day lineup, can't see him not playing unfortunately.
We want toughness and leadership...when it's attached to an otherwise good hockey player. Simmonds used to be that but not anymore.Us fans have hollered for toughness and leadership. We get it...and then we don't much care for it lol tough crowd
Feel like the D-Pairings have been all over the place. I’ve seen Dermott and Sandin share the ice a lot which would likely mean Dermott is on the right side. Nonetheless, I’ve been really happy with Dermott’s game tonight. Strong on the puck so far and making good readsKampf-Kase line looking good. Semyonov too. And Kral maybe looks like a player.
I'm pretty sure Dermott is playing on the left side, or at least playing there a lot.
I want room for Ho-Sang too. And as you can maybe tell from my name, I want the Wayne train in town too.. I think he brings value. Sometimes that's unseen. I'm not blind, I can see if we were running drills for the A team he doesn't stack up to some of the others...but us as Leafs fan should know better than anyone that you can't just skill your way to anythingYup I think they’ve played before together in Czech. to me it goes like this for our bottom 6:
kerfoot - kampf - Kase
Micheyev - seymonov/brooks - spezza
I want to make room with JHS but I think he will have to start in the Marlies. Needs a comtract IMO though

Please check our cap situation lol unless you're moving a Marner for a Tkachuk... You get what you getWe want toughness and leadership...when it's attached to an otherwise good hockey player. Simmonds used to be that but not anymore.
Him signing a two year tells me management sees something. And I just hope they're rightSimmonds can't really bring it most nights though, he is too washed up at this point in his career.
I wonder what Hayes is thinking of him nowLiljegren steals the puck, takes off a few seconds, and then passes it for an easy clear. He reminds me so much of Gards in that he does so many little things unbelievably well that 90% of people don't see. Luckily Liljegren hasn't shown to have the same proficiency of making mistakes in glaring situations like Jake did.
I think Simmer’s value is in the room. His play is just not where it needs to be unfortunately. That can obviously change between now and opening night. But he does need a role as well. I agree. Just not an everyday player in my mind. In fact he’s my 13th forward on every lineup I’ve mocked upI want room for Ho-Sang too. Resigning Simmonds was an atrocious move by Dubas. Not only is the guy terrible, we have 2-3 young kids that deserve the spot way more then him. Our team is significantly worse now with Simmonds.
