Some asshat made a thread on the mainboards stating that Woll is the worst goalie of all time to get a start in the NHL.

If this wasn't the Leafs, people wouldn't even know Woll was starting. Centre of the universe, baby!

Clearly the guy who started that thread is a idiot ... Sparks would be the worst ;)

Kase is a potential 20 goal scorer we are not using properly by planking Engvall on that line. Engvall is a 4th liner but he also plays like he's 4 feet tall so he can't bounce Ritchie or Simmonds either.

Engvall has no place on this team. Leafs are in that top 5 area it's time to graduate from Engvall and give hungry adrenaline filled Marlies a roster spot. These same hungry depth players on our opponents always out shine guys like Engvall when we face them. One roster spot for a bunch of Marlies / rookies ensures that player never takes a night off. One night off and someone else gets a chance (not literally one). Sounds brutal but it's needed and gives that one roster spot importance.

Engvalls intensity suggests he's a 10 year veteran with a NMC. Get this bum out of here.

I do this for my fantasy teams. I keep one bench spot for turnover. You miss out on hot waiver players if you commit to your entire bench. You can apply this to real life. Helps you not lose guys like Marchment because you clogged a spot up with a Engvall. You leave room open to always give your guys a chance. Should be mandatory in a cap world and we can use that 1.25 mil for other things too.

Yup then close up the spot to first person who shows they deserve the long leash. In your case Marchment would end the cycle I guess. Nice bruiser for the third line open up space for Kase. Engvall is that person right now to lock off the spot? Not in my opinion.

Get Woll the shutout, just cause of that ridiculous thread on the mains.
To make it worse, it's a Leafs fan who made the thread. When anti Leafs fans are even calling the OP out, that shows how bad the thread is.

That line has been the best defensive line in the NHL since Engvall was placed there in place of Kerfoot

The Leafs need to stomp Buffalo, this can't bea 3-2, or 2-1 win that's not good enough, not night.

This needs to be 6-2, 7-1

The Leafs need goals and they need the likes of Kertfoot, Bunting and Ritchie to get them.

It's time the depth steps up and starts pulling it's weight
Just play well and win. If they do and it's 2-1 or 7-1 it shouldn't matter. I think this fanbase is really guilty of putting too many parameters on exactly how the game must go each night. It kind of sets one up for disappointment.
  • Need both the core 4 and secondary scorers to score, cause if one group doesn't, we have a problem with one or the other.
  • Need Campbell to be amazing to prove he is a legit #1, but if he makes too many saves by volume or by difficulty, it means our defence is a problem.
  • Need to score a lot of goals and not have it be close, cause this team is skilled, but if we score too many it becomes pond hockey and not indicative of playoff hockey, so we need to learn to win the close games
  • We need an easy win, cause if the game is hard it means we didn't play well, but in the playoffs, the games won't be easy, so we need to learn to win the hard games
  • Need the PP to score cause if it doesn't, it's broken, but if too many goals come on the PP, we suck at creating offence 5on5.

I honestly could go on. It doesn't need to be scripted to some perfect game (which it seems like this fanbase would never be able to agree upon what that definition would be anyway). Just play well and win.

Pretty sure saw that guy posting on leaf boards claiming he’s a leaf fan

Dude wtf haha. Sandin has been amazing ffs. And I wanted semyonov to replace engvall, not the one dude that actually lays hits. Hate this

You left out the 4th key factor, development... there is a reason why some franchises are considered a goalie factory (LA) and some are considered a goalie grave yard (Leafs), competent development vs whatever you call what the Leafs do. The last real impact goalie the Leafs developed was Felix Potvin, Reimer was the last consistent starter.

Development is definitely a weakness. I don't hear a lot of great comments from the goalie world about Rick St. Croix from a technical POV (Bernier on In Goal Magazine) and some mixed reviews about Steve Briere, and when we had Francois Allaire, we weren't feeding him the most orthodox butterfly blocking type goalies to work with.
