Matthews needs to be better, no question. Biggest issue I see is that he is trying to get Marner involved and looking for him off the rush. Matthews needs to get back to firing lasers on net from the middle of ice like he used to.
Marner has been in his playoff form all season. Brodie needs to wake the f up. That's 16M cap hit in 2 soft players who are always looking to avoid contact and are no threat to put the puck in the back of the net. Brodie already used up his 1 nice offensive play a season on that beautiful assist in yesterday's game.

Seems like the guy has no fire to do anything in this game. Already won a Hart and Rocket a couple of times, so why go through the trouble to try it that again? Focus on the playoffs. Underachieve in the playoffs? Always next year. This guy is so uncompetitive it just seems like a waste of talent at this point.

11th in goals scored 13th in goals allowed. Currently in 11th place. All seems pretty balanced, where is the need 7 goals a game because the d is supposedly so bad. A little weaker defensively I get.

Matthews needs to play a straight line game and actually go into a high traffic area to generate offense and start shooting high volume. Too much damn work though.

He said the top guys needed to do more, they have 4 guys all either above or right at a PPG. Matthews has like a 0.68 gpg right now.
If the bottom 6 scores and the top 6 scores, we would end up scoring 6-7 goals per game.
