You don't get payback for a humiliating playoff series loss in a meaningless October game. If we do win this one, I suggest you resist the urge to brag about it on the main boards, some people may die laughing.

I agree, but at the same time, this is the game to win to regain confidence and pride, show some kind of life, bite/fight in your game.

Win and set a tone for the rest of the regular season. Just imagine Marner with a Gordie Howe hattrick.

Going to be pretty interesting to see what Leaf team shows up tonight. Fans Shirley will be expecting a response, let’s see if the team delivers it.

Thing is, these guys can never look at an opponent and think it’s going to be an easy win. Florida is not very good right now, they are still hurting from the long playoff run but the Leafs can not think it will be easy. I just don’t know if they will ever learn that lesson, though. The Leafs just have to really take it one game at a time. Don’t take any team for granted.

I’m definitely expecting a significant response, and don’t call me Shirley.
 Nice to see some humour instead of the usual grumps going on that 'it's meaningless until the playoffs'.

They don’t really have a reputation for doing the expected. Hopefully that’s changed.

This Leafs team over the years have bounced back very well after bad games for the most part. I could see them having a good all around game, especially with what feels to me like better lines and pairings.

If Samsonov can play an above average game, I'd feel confident.

This isn't healthy

Has served me well over the decades, but I suppose it would be more difficult if one had only seen those 5 decades of failure with no memory of being a winning franchise.

There's a reason I tried to turn my kids away from the Leafs, but too late the one sports nut is adicted to this team.

It's about the entertainment value of the games, if they ever win again that'll be a bonus.

Samsonov has been fairly good at bouncing back. I hope he has a strong game. I know it can take a few weeks for goalies to find their rhythm. I hope he finds it tonight.

This is a huge game for an October game. It's a message game. Are we serious about taking on the bruises and fat lips that are the consequence going at our rivals hard or will we just lure our rival into a comfortable regular season game?

As he searches for the optimal deployment, Keefe has promoted Knies to the left of the red-hot Tavares-Nylander duo, Domi's initial assignment, in advance of Thursday's rematch against the Florida Panthers.

To that end, Keefe has couched Domi (minus-3) with the responsible Calle Järnkrok and Fraser Minten on a new-look third line. A safer option considering the coach won't have last change during the upcoming five-game road trip.

Change has trickled to the blue line, too.

Stay-at-home Mark Giordano is getting paired with the puck-moving John Klingberg, while Timothy Liljegren's stability will hopefully get Jake McCabe (a team-worst minus-5) back on track.

Bertuzzi Matthews Marner
Knies Tavares Nylander
Domi Minten Jarnkrok
Gregor Kampf Reaves.

Rielly Brodie
McCabe Liljegren
Giordano Klingberg

Marner with a Gordie Howe hattrick? Yeah I would have to really, really high to imagine that LOL.

Why does anyone need this advice? Your opinions and posts are just bizarre recently.
That poster has a habit of bragging about all kinds of meaningless nonsense, that's why. It was just a post dude, one of hundreds (or thousands) that are made here every day and I can't help it if it upset you somehow so all I can say is don't let it get to you. The post also got a bunch of likes and I only mention that in response to you calling my posts "bizarre". Some people like/dislike some posts, some people like/dislike other posts, it's no big deal either way but if my posts upset you, you always have the option of not reading them. Cheers and GLG!!

Edit - if you have an issue with a specific post, that's one thing - feel free to quote me and discuss. A blanket statement however like calling my opinions and posts "bizarre recently" - that's just condescending arrogance that's not really worthy of a response. I gave you a response anyway but hopefully you can do better going forward.

Why would a fan of a team try to turn their kids away from cheering for their team. It's just sports. It's not like cheering for a team is a vice or something. A past-time or a distraction shouldn't be a thing that breaks a family or affects them psycholically.

In all seriousness though what team would you tell your kids to cheer for? It's not just the Leafs who have cup winning issues. Zero Canadian teams have won a cup in the last 30 years (I'm f***ing sick of stupid hockey fans talking about the Leafs' playoff futility as the only one that exists).

The last CAN teams to make the finals in that time: VAN, *MTL, EDM, CGY, and OTT.

*Covid-19/Bubble

I know it seems like a fleeting memory, but there was a lot to be proud of in the 90's / early 00's. 4 semi-final appearances is not something to be ashamed of. This current team sleep-walks to the playoffs. There might come a time in the future where we would long for that.

I think there's still time with this core and plenty to look forward to.

My expectations haven't changed.

I expect they'll lose and we'll get'em next time.

? Why do you expect us to lose?

I don't expect "us to lose" I expect the Leafs to lose.

Everything I've seen since the '67 Cup has ended in defeat ...

This isn't healthy
There's nothing unhealthy about being in touch with reality. The history of this team over the last 50 years is what it is. Some people don't want to get their hopes up, others look for any excuse to be optimistic, nothing wrong with however one wants to approach things,

Truth!
