This I did not see coming lol. One of the worst officiated games I’ve seen
Get used to it. I have watched the blatant antiLeaf omnibus for years. I can still remember Gilmour getting a penalty for bleeding after Gretzky carved his face wide open from behind.

I really hope the new and improved version of this team shows up in the playoffs.

Because right now this team is no better than last year. Their record is the exact same. If you go by points they're actually worse.

Can someone tell me why Domi insists on lifting his leg whenever he's breaking in on the goalie.

If he thinks it'll help him score he's wrong. He had a whopping nine goals last year and none so far this year. Unless you count that own goal tonight.

Four years at $3.75M each.

One subtle difference is the defense appears to be fronting the opponent more than playing net side. It might explain why Woll is having touble with those slappers from the point. If he's being screened by his own man it would make it a lot harder to save those shots.

Then again I might just be making excuses for a goalie I like.

When it 1st was done it disrupted the goalies concentration, now everybody is accustomed to it. Some shooters haven’t realized that yet…

Climbed out of the pit of shit after 40 minutes. 2nd intermission must have been fun in the dressing room.

Refs were abysmal. How that can happen in a modern game is stunning.

What a period for Knies as well, that back check to save the empty net goal and ensuing penalty drawn was pivotal. Elite power move to the net on Nylander’s goal as well.

Marner huge tying goal and set up on the winner.

Tavares with a monster game, key faceoff wins, that move on McMann’s goal and of course, his intimidating speed to scare Logan Thompson from leaving the net on that 50/50 puck. Great deke on the goal.

(side note: Hakenpaa looked like the tin man out there. Obviously out of game shape and left his goalie and D man out to dry on a few occasions. Needs to learn the systems)

Great comeback, great game by our captain, oh my captain....ooops, former captain.

So many fans have written him off, and he is performing so well for the last year of his contract.
We can't lose him, I hope he signs a team friendly deal for a few years.

By the letter of the law the Knies goal is the only one they got wrong.
By the letter of the law they got the call right.

Probably shouldn't have been waived off in the first place, but once it was, the threshold was now to find a clear/definitive angle that showed the puck was tipped below the crossbar. Such an angle didn't exist, meaning there wasn't enough to warrant overturning the on-ice decision.

Leafs lost 3 -1 right?

WTH happened after I shut off the TV?

Really disappointed with the teams defensive play last night, specifically Domi. On the 3rd goal there were FOUR Leafs covering TWO Caps and the they still got the puck through FOUR Leafs to a wide open Cap, in the history of the NHL there has never been a more wide open player. I get that Domi is on a 20 something game slide with no goals and maybe that is playing games with his mind but at the very least he could have picked up that wide open tree off to the right of the goal. You can directly attribute two of the Caps goals to Domi's poor defensive play, like legit lazy bonehead lack of thought players. Nylander does that and he is benched. Domi does that and Oh well ..c'est la vie, next shift...

By the letter of the law the Knies goal is the only one they got wrong.

IMO it was iffy either way, if they said No goal they were right, if they said goal you can argue they were right. One of those razor thin

Duh. To send the receivers in motion obviously.

Freeze this at the moment he tips the puck. It’s clearly below the cross bar.

I didn't think the refs were bad, Leafs had fewer penalties.
Both goals called back seemed to be the correct call.

Angle of the camera might make the point when he touch the puck be deceptive. Top down camera angle will always make the tipping point look lower than it is... at any rate we got 2 points and good goal or bad is a moot point.. we got the two points in a game we had no business getting 1

Thought it was a goal til they showed a picture from Rielly's point of view and stick was clearly above the crossbar. If he was further out, and they used his shoulder, it would have been a goal.

Both Leafs goals were correct call. Caps goal was worse call because it was more judgmental IMO. Although there was contact will Wolly the goalie, I felt it did not hinder him from making the save. Woll seems to have trouble with long slapshots so far.

I paused it and squinted as hard as I could but the only thing I could say with any absolute certainty is that your definition of "clearly" is clearly different than mine.

I wanted both of those called back to be goals. I like McMann and Knies is my favourite player on the Leafs. It would be different if it was Nylander or Matthews or someone who scores all the time.

Seeing a goal like that taken away from a guy who might only get another half dozen is pretty gut wrenching.

I think Domi is being utilized wrong so far, he’s a far better winger then he is centerman, and he’s a far better disruptor and distributor of the puck. Biggest problem and has been for 3+ years now, Toronto doesn’t have a 3rd line center.

I think with Matthews being hurt, it’s been eye opening that Marner plays better away from Matthews. Feels like they try to force everything to 34.

It's a lot of fun watching Knies mature and grow into his game. Gutsy win and the big boys have been showing up in Matthews absence.

I could never understand why they make the definition of a high stick for a goal different than a high stick during play.

Should be the same standard. Players shoulders make the most sense. The crossbar is too far away to use as a measuring stick in most cases.

It's also a lot easier to see if the stick is below the shoulders than the crossbar since they are in the same plane of view.
