I always say it every time we face the Oilers. Their fans are a more extreme version of what they hate about Leaf fans. Obnoxious, cocky, etc. They think all of their guys are best in the league, they over rate their team every year, they are antagonistic. I will never get tired of them losing for that reason. I can't handle their fans when they are winning.

The GDT makers on the Oilers board put a lot of effort into making them humorous, they definitely aren't meant to be toxic.

Oilers fans make their relationship with players extremely intense and personal. I don't think any other fanbase does that. They are probably happier that Matthews is injured and not playing than they would be if they win the game

We aren't talking about the OP. We are talking about the posts and tone of the thread. People calling Matthews a chicken for being injured, and how apparently it's some conspiracy he may have been playing hurt when the coach said so? Even more toxic posts than those sadly regarding him. Just in general you shake your head reading some of that stuff. It's at unhealthy levels.

Oilers and Canucks fans are both incredibly toxic. Honestly I find them worse than Habs or Sens fans, because at least those guys have an actual rivalry with us.

Well put, this is exactly it. The problem is that this comes out in insecurity as they can't stand the thought of anyone being better than their guys, especially the dirty ol Leafs. And it just is honestly sad to read.

It’s great to have this North Division rivalry up close and personal this season with all the other Canadian fanbases.

Underscores my belief that it never makes any sense to cheer for another Canadian team in the playoffs. Speaking for myself, I always kind of enjoy seeing their demise.

The level of vitriol they have for Matthews is astounding, especially when there’s nothing similar on our end with regards to McDavid.

Agreed, always hate when casuals are telling me I should cheer for the Cup to come back to Canada.
