I wonder if Keefe would be willing to rest players such as Matthews and Andersen for the next couple games to avoid long term injury. We have enough distance to afford some losses if it means long term, sustainable winning.

I haven’t looked but if it’s anything like their post game thread last week when McDavid went off for 5 points and their title had Matthews in it I bet it’s just dripping with insecurity.

Why can none of our players ever just grab the opposing player that injured our guys and just wail on them? I’d have given anything for someone to just grab Andersson last game and start clobbering him. Doesn’t help that what little toughness we have was all injured against the Flames.

Its definitely frustrating bro. Injuries suck but it's a part of the game. You cant play to not get hurt. All teams deal with it but ya it sucks losing your best player.

Positive for Leafs is they have JT, Marner, Nylander, and a lot more options than Oilers. If JT even gets one tonight he will be a rabid dog all game.

It's time some other players pick it up.

Kerfoot-Nylander

Nylander/Kerfoot mesh well together. Last time we didn't have Matthews (also against the Oilers) the line of Vesey-Kerfoot-Nylander dominated. Might as well go back to it (replace Vesey with someone else though)

Yeah our D last year was miles ahead of what the oilers trot out consistently...this year there is a huge gap...you can’t convince me Darnell Nurse is anything special he’s a 4-6 Dman tops Larsson is no Reilly, Russell isn’t close to Muzzin...I guess you can kind of compare our top 2 forwards (Matthews is slightly below McDavid and Marner is above Draisaitl) after that RNH is no JT he rides coattails “the winger to the stars” as he is called...they have no Nylander or anything close to him in their lineup...actually as in writing this I’m really not seeing your comparison
 
Can't rely on the franchise player tonight. We have a few others that would be or have been considered franchise players in their own right. Time to step up people. Should be no excuse not to bury the Oiler tonight.
