Campbell back is huge, plus if he gets 3 or 4 in a row Fred gets some rest and gets healthy, and we see what Campbell can do on a more consistent basis.

For someone who has only played 8 games as a leaf, he has quite the reputation already:laugh:

It would be huge if Campbell can be our starter next season, giving us a season with an extra $3.35m in cap space. The season after that, Kessel's $1.2m retention comes off the books, as well as opportunity to revisit the spot Rielly fills. Huge. YUUGGEEEE.

We clearly aren't used to having a good backup goalie lol

So we know everyone travelled west. Question is what lines would look like if Matthews plays and Vesey sits (scratched).

If Matthews can't play, my lineup prediction is:

Thornton - Tavares - Marner
Barabanov - Kerfoot - Nylander
Hyman - Engvall - Mikheyev
Petan - Boyd - Spezza

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
Dermott - Bogosian

Campbell
Hutchinson

Taxi/Extra: Galchenyuk, Sabourin, Lehtonen, Marincin, Simmonds, Andersen, Vesey, Matthews

If Matthews can't go tonight; I hope Barabanov gets a look in the top 6; I really liked his game playing with skilled forwards. He was making stuff happen in the offensive zone

If Matthews can go I wouldn't mind seeing

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Jumbo-Tavares-Marner
Barabanov-Kerfoot-Mikheyev
Petan-Engvall/Boyd-Spezza

Do you plan on running just 1 goalie? Losing Andersen and replacing him with Campbell doesn't give you 3.35 in space. You'd also need to find a competent backup, especially considering Campbell has never carried the starters load for a single season. Also, injuries, as we can see already this season.

If we ain'ts signing andersen our number uno back sire, then will be getting some huge sucka like Ullmark back there. That guy huge as an ox and still winning, WHAT!!!!!

Happy the goalies are starting to feel better but really got to give some credit to Hutch. Guy has played great since being forced to come in!
It crazy how much confidence being destroyed kills a goalie. He has confidence back and looks so quiet in net. Good on Hutch because I couldn’t stand him going in net. He deserved the criticism but now deserves credit. I remember saying Dubas is overly loyal to this guy. Both have proven me wrong. Now that doesn’t happen often :)

I don't know why people are saying that we are so much better than the Oilers. Not saying we are bad, I am saying that the Oilers are very close to us. Look at the scoring outside of the 2 top players for both teams. It's about equal. JT is basically RNH. They don't have a Willy, but other than that it's about the same production wise.

Mainly because they are a bad 5v5 team and are relying on Mike Smith playing at a Vézina calibre.

Good goaltending makes wonder for the entire team. Since Smith came back to play in goal they have been a completely different team, their supporting guys were able to be put up some points too.

Likely lines with GSVA from theathletic.com:

Ok, that's fine. I am just saying they are closer to the Leafs than people wanna admit.
I don't really think they are. They're, in my mind, a 3/4 team in this division.

Our D is far better than Edmonton's. Our goaltending is far better than theirs. Our scoring depth is better (we have 10 players with 10+ points so far, they have 6).

Mathews should be captain now.
He is leading by example.
Wasn't sure before but his game has gone to another level and he can handle it now.

It may even bring him to another level.

Keep it up.

Not just the goal scoring but he now has a physical part to his game like f*** you it's my puck.
Bro I don't think I even get as pumped up for his goals as much as I do when he runs guys over, absolutely love it as I grew up a massive Wendel Clark fan.

Also I notice he usually picks one guy from the other team and makes them his personal bitch for the night, usually whoever triggers him with a cross check or whatever pisses him off

Who are these people? Kind of sounds like you are angling for the "reasonable fan" label while most of us know we need to continue to prove ourselves.

Sometimes it amazes me how people on this forum can read one or two posts and apply their feelings about those posts to the rest of the group.

Why would you think anyone wants to run 1 goalie? That's not even legal. Losing Andersen and replacing him with Campbell *does* give you $3.35m in space. You use that extra space to fill out the rest of the spots you need to fill for the upcoming season, and those obligations don't stop at just the backup position. Let's give the pedantry a rest and consider that Campbell demonstrating himself as a capable starter would be YYUUUGGGEEEEE

Nice and simple GDT.

Basic quotes from media providing updates on roster.

OP doesn't make 300 ft long opening post. No complex shown from Leafs fans about hating McDavid or the way he looks. Also no complaints about the media.

It's as if the Leafs have won some games before. It's like Oilers fans forgot how their season started first 9 games.

Sit down.
Be humble.

Go Leafs Go!
