I know its been touched on before. But we don't have anyone that sends shivers down the back of other teams or who will hold them accountable for damage done. Yeah Luke Schenn is okay but not close to enough. And Acarri, Lafferty, McCabe ain't scaring anyone.

So what would it take to get Tom Wilson and if not him who would also be up there?

I would love it but apparently the league and refs have it in for the Leafs so it wouldn't work.

I think if we need more than Wilson to get over that ref thing. Bc if we have a few players to play like Wilson, league and refs won’t make all the calls.

It's not that the refs are necessarily specifically punitive towards us, it's that they always look to equalize the penalty calls. So if you have a clean, soft team vs a dirty physical team (like the Panthers), you'll still end up with the penalties relatively even.

So if Wilson is going to the box a lot, then our opponent will be going to the box more as well, which would bode well for us given our quality special teams.

Suspensions though...yeah, while Parros is in charge there's no avoiding that.

Are we looking for policeman type guy......? Wouldn't hurt, but it would be nice if they could play meaningful minutes, and there aren't really anyone like that around anymore aside from Wilson. He is a UFA after this season, so any deal would have to include an extension? He is a very unique player in today's game. Basically him and Josh Anderson are the only 2 like that.

As for UFA's...I'd love to bring back Acciari and Schenn. What are thoughts about Lucic on a 1 yr cheap deal? He put up decent points, but is slower than a slow Jason Allison.

As for trade targets....someone like Deslaurier on Philly? I always liked Ryan Hartman's game, but he is not policeman territory, but hits like a truck.

Gudas is UFA, could be had for cheap probably, but is not very good/fast. Reaves and Auston Watson are also available UFA toughness. Watson is intriguing as he is good defensively and can skate/play. Plus he has cleaned up his off-ice issues.

Could always try to see what Tampa wants for Jeannot......they only gave up a top D prospect, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th for him...... ;) he is RFA July 1.

Not a bad idea. We at least need a "shift disturber". Someone who isn't afraid to mix it up and play on the edge. Throw some hits make some turnovers and try to change up the momentum when we're down. None of our stars do this.

Shanahan would never allow this lmao. Simmonds/Clifford/Foligno are the violence cap for this team until he’s gone and MLSE is under new ownership. The max we’re going to get is more Acciari types that dish out consistent but not dangerous hits.

Whenever that question comes up, all you have to do is look at the current roster and determine if you already have a player that fills that role. In this case, I do not feel the Leafs have that role filled at all, so yes, that kind of player would be welcomed. Tom specifically? Dunno, but someone like him for sure.

Attempting to bolt on XYZ aspect of what this team is missing hasn't worked. It didn't work with adding leadership, it didn't work with adding physicality in the bottom six, we're not going to become hard to play against even if we add the biggest psycho in the league. Our softness is an identity problem, not a personnel problem. We ran a bottom six and blueline absolutely chock full of hitters and bruisers, and it didn't mean squat because the core are what drive the team and they're not killers.

Add Wilson and subtract Marner, and now we're starting to cook a team that's nasty. We also desperately need the Muzzin replacement #2D who can handle big minutes and is an imposing physical presence. We need a little bit of the ol' Burke era testosterone, pugnacity, and truculence, and it needs to come from the core. Wilson works in Washington because it's Ovi's team and Ovi was an absolute wrecking ball in his heyday.

That may change with Treliving in the big chair.

He's exceptionally close to The BettMan and Daly, he did them a solid by babysitting the Coyotes while they were scrambling around trying to find investors, he also helped getting the yotes TV contract together.

In the business of favours', big Brad has a deck full of them to call in, but that said the bookies really matter to the league, which sometimes can shade the odd outcome.

Caps fans have a very high ask of him, it’s gonna be hard to pry him from them

I’d like for us to draft player this draft who could become a Wilson like player, but that will take 2-3 years to develop.

I’d also look into a holl replacement, mayfield jumps out but he may get a bit more than we can afford

Acciari and Schenn should be brought back on good deals

If we let go of bunting we need to grab another top 6 winger. I’d pencil Robertson in as the 3LW at the very least to start next season. He needs to start playing more and hopefully not get injured, Robertson and knies should be 2 of the 3 top 9 LW’s.

Agreed. It’d be great to add Tom Wilson, but as just mentioned it’d cost way too much in trade capital plus his salary would be too much for the cap disaster Dubas left behind.

Also agree about Tanner Jeannott and Lawson Crouse being great additions. No hope of getting Jeannott but I’m sure the low budget Coyotes would be open to dealing him.

I’m terms of UFA’s my #1 option would be Max Domi to Toronto. Obviously knows the fan base very well and would be an instant favourite. He can definitely play in the top six forwards for the Leafs.

He can’t fight like his father, but Max can definitely throw. Put Ryan Kessler to sleep and turned Aaron Ekblad’s face into a bloody mess.
