Who here lives at home but eats all meals as a family? Parents think I'm not normal for bringing my food to my room and eating it there

We pretty much always eat supper together.

Eat lunch together every so often.

Live my own life, parents are super strict, and I get no privacy, treat me like I'm still a kid etc. other than my step-mom and dad I have no other family anyways. Why not?

Who makes the food? Do they make it and you come down and take it to your room?

Will our kids eat with us?

I love that show and how it ended. I don't know what they're going to do with one extra season. Everything was wrapped up! Cole Sprouse who played Ben (Ross's son) is 21 years old now. That is so ridiculous.
Exactly, it just doesn't make sense. I wouldn't mind a movie, but still wouldn't want to touch something so classic. I would just leave it the way it is and not mess with it.

That's a weird meal choice :sarcasm:

Well parents are gonna parent bud ... it's their thing - they're just looking out for what they perceive to be your best interest .. I totally understand you wanting to move out and get your own deal set up but never see them again? That's pretty harsh and you'll regret that in the future - family isn't something you should turn your back on because they will be the ones there for you in the end

I don't think it's wise to shun them because they're trying to look out for you, whether you like it or not .. Because once you do move out and have to pay the bills, buy your own food, manage all your expenses - it's an eye opener and you might need some help on the way

Maybe your parents would respect your age a little more if you sat them down and told them how you feel they treat you ... If you can show some maturity in that, maybe they'll change

But your, what, 20 bud? Still pretty young - my dad was still lecturing me on things at that age .. Still a lot to learn about life, that's for sure

Maybe not never see them again but definitely want to move far away and just experience the freedom. I know what you're saying though.

I think that's always a good idea to move away for a bit and experience the world .. It really rounds you out as a person ... I always tell people it moving away from Uni and moving to Calgary by myself have given me tons of perspective on life and really helped me figure things out

You then start seeing your parents as people more than anything else and while they'll always (and they always will) be telling you things/giving advice you'll at least have more patience and understanding as to where they're coming from but also know how they are and that they mean well

Before you go back to school you should take a few months and travel IMO .. Or go to a school a fair distance away

I had military parents, and no one is more strict then military parents. Doesn't mean I never want to see them again, and our relationship is much better now that I am away from home.

But the saying "you don't know what you got till it's gone" applies perfectly in this situation.

Have almost got my Dad taken away twice, and some members have lost parents here, so to say you want to never see them again (or separate from them) because they are a bit strict, is pretty dumb.

Again, if there is abuse or something involved that you aren't mentioning (and I wouldn't expect you to say that on the Internet) then I understand, but because they are strict? Nah.

My dad was super strict when I was younger and always said "you'll thank me later" and now that I'm a grown man, I really do. It taught me a lot about life and how to handle things and what it takes to support not only yourself but a family.

Oh trust me I know how it is to lose family members and parents. But anyways when I was living in res for school it was the best experience of my life. One reason why? I was away from home.
